The Twenty-Second Sunday After Pentecost - Online Worship - October 24, 2021
Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see you
To see You high and lifted up
Shining in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy holy holy
(repeat)
Holy holy holy
Holy holy holy
Holy holy holy
I want to see You
(repeat)
Today, we believe and see anew God’s glory and grace, thanks to the One who opens the eyes of our heart, the One who is truly holy, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
People of God: Come, see in new ways once again, what God has done. Come, hear what God is sending us out to do. Come and receive, all the Lord provides. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have failed to trust all we believe and see.
(silence for reflection)
Friends in Christ: Live today in God’s glory and grace in these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. May we trust and rejoice for the Lord continues to restore our sight, our hearts, our hope, and our joy. Believe and see anew; rejoice and sing, thanks to the One who forever opens our eyes!
Open our eyes Lord
We want to see Jesus
To reach out and touch him
And say that we love him
Open our ears Lord
And help us to listen
Open our eyes Lord
We want to see Jesus
Friends in faith: The Lord continues to open our hearts and spirits to believe and see all of God’s glory and grace. Let us rejoice and sing, thanks to the One who is forever doing great things, the One who is the Almighty, the One who forever open our eyes!
Open our eyes Lord
We want to see Jesus
To reach out and touch him
And say that we love him
Open our ears Lord
And help us to listen
Open our eyes Lord
We want to see Jesus
Loving God, as you restored sight to the blind man, restore our hearts and our faith, restore each of us to believe and see in every place, in new ways, the gifts and presence and power and hope of your glory and grace. By your Holy Spirit, reveal to us what truly matters most. As we explore our true net worth is in you alone; renew our spirit to believe and see anew, all good gifts are sent from heaven above, placed into our care. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
For thus says the Lord: Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, “Save, O Lord, your people, the remnant of Israel.” See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those with child and those in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here. With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will let them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I have become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
(New Revised Standard Version)
Be sure to join us in person for this special music from our new pianist Kyle Dacon!
They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stood still and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.” So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
(New Revised Standard Version)
As God’s children, we trust God the good steward and God’s grace first love us and then fill us with countless blessings. In thanks to God’s faithfulness, we believe and we see anew, and we now boldly proclaim our faith, making God and our neighbors first.
God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.
Do you know any “magic words”? Do they work? Not magic words, like, “please” and “thank you;” we know the importance of those magic words, and that those magic words work well. Have you ever had any success with other magic words, a phrase like, “Open Sesame!”? Change of subject. Technology is changing all the time, and yet, do you have any items that when locked or closed, unlock or open on their own, all by themselves? Normally, we need to unlock such items; and in most cases, you better not lose the key. Our reading from Mark tells the story of a blind man having his sight restored; he gets to see again. The magic words: “Have mercy” and “Jesus.” Is the man able to restore his sight on his own? No; he knows he needs Jesus! Jesus is the key. As we continue to explore our net worth is in God’s grace alone, let us call on the One who does what we cannot do on our own, to open our eyes and to open our hearts, to see what we have been missing, to see in new places, in new ways, all of God’s glory and grace!
1. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, to believe and to see, all we have been missing in God’s glory and grace!
Jeremiah 31:8; Hebrews 7:26; Mark 10:47-48
A. There are no magic words needed to believe and to see God’s glory and grace!
B. Like the blind man, let us believe and see the One who is right in front of us all the time, and let us forever speak the word, the name, that has all the power and glory and grace we will ever need: Jesus!
2. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, to believe and to see, in new places, all of God’s glory and grace!
Mark 10:46-49
A. Do you have places that captivate you, catch your eye, awe you? Places like this are priceless, and bless us and assure us, to believe and to see God’s glory and grace!
B. Our eyes and our hearts are opened to believe and to see God’s glory and grace in each and every place as we take a closer look!
3. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, to believe and to see, in new ways, all of God’s glory and grace!
Mark 10:51-52
A. Technology is changing all the time; helping open what cannot be opened on its own; helping us see all kinds of things more clearly!
B. God’s glory and grace are changing us all the time; doing for us what we cannot do on our own, opening our eyes and hearts in new ways; to believe and to see even more!
4. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, to spring up, to have our spirits energized, to believe and to see, all of God’s glory and grace!
Mark 10:49-50
A. As we believe and see, our souls and spirits spring up!
B. Like the blind man, let us spring up, and jump into God’s story!
5. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, to believe and to see, our net worth is in God’s grace alone, thanks to all of God’s glory and grace!
Jeremiah 31:8; Mark 10:49
6. The One who opens our eyes, opens our hearts, does more than restore or renew our sight and our heart; our eyes and our hearts are transformed to believe, to see, glory and grace like never before, thanks to one word, one name: Jesus!
Jeremiah 31:8; Hebrews 7:26; Mark 10:47-48; 51-52

vs 1
I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above
Of Jesus and his glory
Of Jesus and his love
I love to tell the story
Because I know it’s true
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else would do
refrain:
I love to tell the story
I’ll sing this theme in glory
And tell the old old story
Of Jesus and his love
vs 2
I love to tell the story
How pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it
More wonderfully sweet
I love to tell the story
For some have never heard
The message of salvation
From God’s own holy Word
(refrain)
vs 3
I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest
And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new new song
I’ll sing the old old story
That I have loved so long

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Bless us, to believe and to see anew, all your glory and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

My life flows on in endless song
Above earth’s lamentation
I catch the sweet though faroff hymn
That hails a new creation
refrain:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that Rock I’m clinging
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing
vs 2
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear that music ringing
It finds an echo in my soul
How can I keep from singing
vs 3
What though my joys and comforts die
The Lord my Savior liveth
What though the darkness gather round
Songs in the night he giveth
vs 4
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart
A fountain ever springing
All things are mine since I am his
How can I keep from singing
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you believe and see God’s glory and grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
