Life Nite - Lenten Special Edition

Special Edition: Leading into Soup Supper & Lenten Devotions

All 6th–9th Graders Welcome!

Join us for a special Life Nite gathering this Wednesday evening, ahead of our Lenten Soup Supper and Devotional Service. This evening will offer fun, food, and faith—and transitions seamlessly into our church-wide Lenten gathering.

Bring a friend! Come ready for fun, and stay for dinner and devotions.
We look forward to spending this meaningful evening with you!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Engaging Activities: Life Nite is all about having a blast! Get ready to participate in a range of activities that promise non-stop fun. From games that challenge your teamwork to creative challenges that ignite your imagination, there's something for everyone.

Meaningful Conversations:
After the games, we’ll gather in small groups for faith-centered discussion, exploring how God is present in our lives and how we can grow together in faith during Lent.

Dinner Delights – Soup Supper Follows Life Nite:
Dinner will be part of the congregation-wide Soup Supper immediately following Life Nite. We’ll head into the Fellowship Hall together and join the rest of the Lord of Life community for a warm meal and continued conversation.

Lenten Connection:
Following dinner, we’ll close the evening by participating in a brief Lenten Devotional Service—a time of reflection, Scripture, and prayer to center our hearts during this sacred season.

HOW TO JOIN:

Participation in Life Nite is open to all 6th to 9th graders who are looking for an evening of camaraderie, spiritual growth, and loads of fun. Whether you're a regular at our youth group gatherings or a newcomer looking to make friends, you're welcome to join us.

Join us for our Lenten Soup Suppers, a time of fellowship, nourishment, and spiritual reflection. Every Wednesday, we will gather at 6:30 PM to share a delicious soup dinner and enjoy each other's company until 7:15 PM.

Following dinner, from 7:15 to 7:30 PM, we will come together for a brief devotional service. This service will center around our Lenten theme, "Alive and Anew," offering an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and communal worship as we journey through the season of Lent.

First Communion Instruction – Saturday, April 5, 2025

A Special Invitation for Children 4th Grade & Older

Children in 4th grade and older who have not yet participated in a formal First Communion class are invited to learn more about the sacrament of Holy Communion. This engaging and interactive class will explore the meaning, history, and practice of Communion, helping children deepen their understanding of Christ’s presence in this holy meal.

Class Schedule:

10:00 a.m. – Registration & Gathering with Parents
10:00-10:30 a.m. – Devotions, Conversation, & Details with Parents
10:30 a.m. – Parents Invited to Leave
10:30-12:00 p.m. – Class Time

  • Bible Study, Reflection, & Storytelling

  • What is Communion? Who started it?

  • Why do we share it? How is Jesus present?

  • How do we receive it? And more!

12:00-12:30 p.m. – Scavenger Hunt, Review, & Closing

First Communion Recognition

Children who complete the class will be recognized during the Maundy Thursday service on April 17 at 7:00 p.m. They will receive a flower, certificate, and Bible and will share Communion with their families during worship. If a child is unable to attend on Maundy Thursday, their Bible and certificate will be available the next Sunday they join us to receive Communion in this special way.

In John 13:1-17, 31b-35, Jesus shares the Last Supper, washes His disciples’ feet, and gives the commandment to “love one another as I have loved you.” As we enter this sacred night, we are reminded that Christ’s heart is set on us, washing us, feeding us, and filling us with His grace.

What to Expect:

  • Scripture Reflection:

    • John 13:1-17, 31b-35 – Jesus demonstrates servant love and calls us to do the same.

  • Holy Communion: Sharing in the meal Christ first gave to His disciples.

  • First Communion: Tonight we also celebrate and pray God’s blessing on these fellow believers who share their First Communion and come to The Lord’s Table in a new, complete, and blessed way!

9th Grade Confirmation Class - Exploring My Faith

Exploring My Faith

Attention all 9th graders! Join us for an enriching Confirmation Class on March 17th, where we will delve into the deeply personal topic of "My Faith."

This class will serve as the final session of the year for our 9th Grade Confirmation students. It's a significant step in their journey as they approach their Affirmation of Baptism and Confirmation on September 29, 2024.

During this session, we will explore the concept of faith on a personal level. What does faith mean to you? How has your faith journey shaped your beliefs and values? These are the questions we'll be discussing and reflecting upon.

Lunch will be provided, so come prepared for thoughtful discussion and nourishing food. Additionally, students will be introduced to their final confirmation project during this class. This project will involve selecting topics to discuss in their final paper—a meaningful opportunity to articulate their beliefs and experiences.

As we conclude this year's Confirmation classes, we look forward to celebrating the Affirmation of Baptism and Confirmation with our 9th Grade students in September. We're excited to explore "My Faith" together and embark on the next phase of our Confirmation journey!

Exploring Holy Week

Attention 8th graders! Our next Confirmation Class on March 10th will delve into the significance of Holy Week.

This class marks the culmination of this year's Confirmation journey for our 8th-grade students. We will explore the profound events of Holy Week, the most sacred period in the Christian calendar.

Join us for a deep dive into the final week of Jesus' earthly ministry, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the events, symbols, and meaning of Holy Week as we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

Lunch will be provided, so come hungry for both spiritual insights and delicious food. Please note that this is the last class of the year for our 8th Grade Confirmation students. We will resume our Confirmation program for your final year starting in October.

This class marks the last of the year for our 7th Grade Confirmation students, and what a meaningful topic to conclude with—Holy Communion. We will delve into the history, meaning, and importance of this sacred sacrament in the Christian faith and what that means for us as Lutherans.

Lunch will be provided, so come hungry for both food and knowledge. Additionally, please note that our 7th Grade Confirmation students will begin their last year of Confirmation in October, so stay tuned for more exciting learning opportunities.

Join us this Sunday, January 12, as we celebrate The Baptism of Our Lord and reflect on the grace, light, and treasured life that baptism brings to each of us. This special service invites us to embrace the epiphany of who Jesus is—God’s Son, the Beloved—and who we are as His treasured children.

What to Expect:

  • Inspirational Worship: Lift your voices in songs like “All Who Are Thirsty” and “He Knows My Name,” celebrating the gift of baptism.

  • Faith Quest Resumes: Sunday School for children returns this week at 9:30 a.m., providing a nurturing space for young hearts to grow in faith.

  • Holy Communion: All are welcome to receive the gifts of grace at the Lord’s table.

  • Message from Pastor Jamie: Discover how baptism transforms our lives, calling us to live anew in the light and grace of Jesus Christ.

Scripture Readings:

  • Isaiah 43:1-7: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”

  • Acts 8:14-17: The apostles pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon the baptized.

  • Luke 3:15-17, 21-22: The baptism of Jesus reveals Him as God’s Beloved Son.
