Holy Trinity Sunday - Online Worship - May 30, 2021
vs. 1
Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy,
Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons,
Blessed Trinity!
vs. 2
Holy, holy, holy!
All the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before thee,
Which wert and art,
And evermore shalt be.
vs. 3
Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye made blind by sin
Thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy;
There is none beside thee,
Perfect in pow’r,
In love and purity.
Today we trust God’s grace rushes in like the wind, filling our lives and souls in the power and hope, purpose and salvation we have in The Trinity, the One who is holy, holy, holy, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Friends of Jesus: It is easy for us to ask, “Why do you, our God, take care of human beings?” And yet, You have made us a little lower than angels. With hope anew, we take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we fail to trust the power of The Holy Trinity.
(silence for reflection)
Brothers and sisters in faith: Celebrate and trust anew God’s grace and feel the rush of The Wind in these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. All creatures of our God and King; give all praise to our God who is Three in One!
Loving God, you dwell in majesty and mystery. You are all things to all people. You rush in like the wind to be at our side. Increase our faith to confess and proclaim your Holy Trinity in all creation, forgiveness, strength and salvation. By Your Spirit, let us feel the rush of The Wind; help us make you and our neighbors first, to accept our doubt and our fear, and then help us surrender to your authority, your holy purpose, and your saving grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God.” Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? Very truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
How do you feel when you do not understand something? When you do not get it? Are you compelled to figure it out on your own, before you can move on? What if you were trying to figure out The Holy Trinity? Do you get it? Are you able to understand who The Trinity is, how The Trinity works? Do you ever get so caught up seeking the understanding you are looking for that you miss the main point? Do you ever try to force understanding so much, you limit the power of the knowledge? Do you know that with regard to The Holy Trinity, you do not have to get it, you do not have to understand how it works or who it is, in order to get all God provides? As we celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday, feel the rush of The Wind, feel Three at your side, and celebrate all God declares, all God is, in The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit!
1. Do you get it, feel the rush of Three to your side; God is `Three in One’?
A. `Three in One’ means `Three in One’ which is not so easy to get.
John 3:2,8
i. Many people have tried to relate The Trinity to other concepts, but every comparison breaks down at some point.
a. These `Three’ are not like the chords of a rope, for they are each strong enough on their own.
b. These `Three’ are not like an egg, for they can each do what the others do just as well.
c. These `Three’ are not like the branches of U.S. government, for they do not need to check and balance each other.
ii. `Three in One’ has no comparison. This `Three in One’ God breaks down every other god at every point.
B. `Three in One’ means all Three work together no matter where each one is, no matter that they are individuals.
Revelation 8:12-17
2. Do you get it, feel the rush of Three to your side, The Holy Trinity is actually more about truth than it is about doctrine?
A. Preachers are taught to preach. Some times special emphases and special Sundays can tempt us to teach, rather than to preach.
John 3:10-12
B. The Holy Trinity is filled with truth, conviction, promise, power, hope and grace - this is what we are `all in One’ called to go and tell.
Revelation 8:13,17; John 3:3-5
3. Are you getting all of this? Feel the rush of The Wind of Three to your side: `God in Three persons’ wants to give you all God has, all God is!
John 3:7
A. God declares to you, `I am Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I have so much to give you, for you to have, for you to get, for you to trust.’
i. The Father - still creating opportunities and hope.
Revelation 8:15-17; John 3:17
ii. The Son - Nicodemus did not get Jesus or understand him at first. Little by little, Nicodemus got all he needed in The One given for God so loved the world.
John 3:16
iii. The Holy Spirit - The Spirit is The Spirit in our midst helping us do the unexplainable.
Revelation 8:14; John 3:6
B. God declares to you, `Don’t worry if you do not get it, and do not understand all of this `Three in One’ thing. Feel the rush of The Wind, as Three rush to your side. You do not have to understand Me to be saved by Me, to be Mine!’
Revelation 8:16; John 3:7

vs. 1
All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice with us and sing:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O burning sun with golden beam,
And silver moon with softer gleam.
refrain:
Oh, praise him!
Oh, praise him!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
vs. 7
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship God in humbleness.
Oh, praise him! Alleluia!
Oh, praise the Father, Praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One.
(refrain)
...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
By your Holy Spirit, let us feel your presence and grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the rush of The Wind in God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
God bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her,
And guide her
Through the night
With the light
From above.
From the mountains,
To the prairies,
To the oceans,
White with foam
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home!
(repeat)
We fall down,
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus,
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus.
And we cry
Holy, holy, holy,
And we cry
Holy, holy, holy,
And we cry
Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lamb.
vs. 1
