vs. 1
The Lord is my light
And my salvation,
The Lord is my light
And my salvation,
The Lord is my light
And my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?

Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Whom shall I fear?

vs. 3
Wait on the Lord
And be of good courage,
Oh, wait on the Lord
And be of good courage,
Wait on the Lord
And be of good courage;
He shall strengthen thy heart.

Today we trust and feel God’s grace in the rush of The Wind; the Lord is our light and salvation, and touches us first with power and hope, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen.

People of God: The Lord of life is the only One who can restore our very souls. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have failed to trust the Lord’s power, to call on his touch, and to call on his name.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: The Lord has spoken and made us complete. Feel the rush of The Wind as God touches you first in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. The One who touches you first is your beautiful Savior; though his anger is for a moment, his favor and mercy are for a lifetime!

Almighty and loving God, your voice alone speaks to us with power, healing and hope. In the midst of all that is broken in our lives, all that is longing to be restored, we feel the rush of The Wind as you touch us first. By your Spirit’s power, renew our hearts once again to give you glory and honor; and give us grace and courage to follow you anew with praise and adoration; to believe all we need do is reach out, to feel how close you are, The One who touches us first. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him; and he was by the sea. Then one of the leaders of the synagogue named Jairus came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet and begged him repeatedly, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and live.” So Jesus went with him. And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him and touched his cloak, for she said, “If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well.” Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, ‘Who touched me?’” Jesus looked all around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” While he was still speaking, some people came from the leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?” But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” Jesus allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, he saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. When Jesus had entered, he said to them, “Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside, and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha cum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!” And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. Jesus strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and he told them to give her something to eat.

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-33; 2 CORINTHIANS 8:7-15; MARK 5:21-43

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-33; 2 CORINTHIANS 8:7-15; MARK 5:21-43

Most people these days are looking for a little more energy, a little more jump in their step, a little more power.  These days you can find `quick energy drinks' and `power bars' to give you a boost.  What gives you real energy, real power?  What restores your fire, energy, and spirit?  What restores your soul, your faith?  In today’s Gospel, a man looks for his daughter to be healed, and a woman looks for her body to be restored.  The man knew the power of Jesus' touch.  The woman knew the power in simply touching Jesus' garments.  Both people had been touched by the rush of The Wind in Jesus, - his message, ministry, presence, grace - they knew where to get more.  As our personal walks of discipleship and devotion go forward, let us go forward in the rush of The Wind, trusting all we long for is a touch away, trusting The One who touches us first!

1. Where do you get your power and energy?  Where do you get energy and power for your spirit, soul, and faith?  When you feel empty, feel the rush of The Wind, trusting who touches you first!
Mark 5:30

2. Let us forever call upon and reach out to the One who with the rush of The Wind reaches out to us first, touching us first!

A. God in Jesus touches us first with his power, as individuals and as disciples.
Lamentations 3:22-26; Mark 5:22, 27

i. If we cannot always feel the power of Jesus' touch, we can reach out to him, he is that close, that powerful.

ii. Like the leader of the synagogue, like the woman, we know where we can get more, who has all we need.

B. With the rush of The Wind, God in Jesus touches us first with his power to restore what God alone created, even though at times we are tired and empty and broken in our bodies, spirits, souls, and faith.
Lamentations 3:22-23; Mark 5:23,28,35,41

C. With the rush of The Wind, God in Jesus touches us first with his power as God’s people `to make God and neighbor first.'
2 Corinthians 8:7-12

i. God has touched us first, putting much in our care.

ii. God has touched us first, calling us to take next steps.

iii. God has touched us first, gracing us, keeping us faithful.

iv. The gift is acceptable according to what we have, not according to what we do not have.

3. With the rush of The Wind, God's power in Jesus, truly touches us more than we touch him.  Today and always, let us trust healing and hope and grace and reassurance, and all we long for, are only a touch away, faithfully given to us in the power and love of the One who touches us first!
Lamentations 3:22-23; 2 Corinthians 8:9; Mark 5:30-31,41

vs. 1
Beautiful Savior,
King of creation,
Son of God
And Son of Man!
Truly I’d love thee,
Truly I’d serve thee,
Light of my soul,
My joy, my crown.

vs. 3
Fair is the sunshine,
Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling
Stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels
In the sky.

vs. 4
Beautiful Savior,
Lord of the nations,
Son of God
And Son of Man!
Glory and honor,
Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be thine!

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Let us feel the rush of The Wind, in your Spirit, and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.

In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the rush of The Wind in God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!

refrain:
Shine, Jesus, shine,
Fill this land with the Father’s glory;
Blaze, Spirit, blaze,
Set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow,
Flood the nations with love and mercy;
Send forth your Word,
Lord, and let there be light!

vs. 1
Lord, the light of your love is shining,
In the midst of the darkness, shining;
Jesus, light of the world, shine upon us,
Set us free by the truth you now bring us.
Shine on me, shine on me:

(refrain)

vs. 2
As we gaze on your kingly brightness,
So our faces display your likeness,
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here, may our lives tell your story.
Shine on me, shine on me:

(refrain)

vs. 1
Ev’ry promise we can make,
Ev’ry prayer and step of faith,
Ev’ry diff’rence we will make
Is only by His grace.
Ev’ry mountain we will climb,
Ev’ry ray of hope we shine,
Ev’ry blessing left behind
Is only by His grace.

refrain:
Grace alone
Which God supplies,
Strength unknown
He will provide.
Christ in us,
Our Cornerstone,
We will go forth
In grace alone.

vs. 2
Ev’ry soul we long to reach,
Ev’ry heart we hope to teach,
Ev’rywhere we share His peace
Is only by His grace.
Ev’ry loving word we say,
Ev’ry tear we wipe away,
Ev’ry sorrow turned to praise
Is only by His grace.

(refrain twice)

We will go forth
In grace alone.
