The Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost - Online Worship - September 26, 2021
vs. 1
Here in this place, new light is streaming,
Now is the darkness vanished away;
See in this space, our fears and our dreamings,
Brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in – the lost and forsaken,
Gather us in – the blind and the lame;
Call to us now, and we shall awaken,
We shall arise at the sound of our name.
vs. 2
We are the young, our lives are a myst’ry,
We are the old who yearn for your face;
We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry,
Called to be light to the whole human race.
Gather us in – the rich and the haughty,
Gather us in – the proud and the strong;
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly,
Give us the courage to enter the song.
vs. 3
Here we will take the wine and the water,
Here we will take the bread of new birth,
Here you shall call your sons and your daughters;
Call us anew to be salt for the earth.
Give us to drink the wine of compassion,
Give us to eat the bread that is you;
Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion,
Lives that are holy and hearts that are true.
Today we trust anew God gathers us in, blessing us each and every day, with all God is, in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
People of God: Jesus knows our transgressions; our sins are ever before him. Against Jesus alone have we sinned, yet, The Lord is mindful of his steadfast love. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to fully believe all God is.
(silence for reflection)
Friends in Christ: God is Who God is, blessing us anew in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. Live anew in power and grace each and every day, for all eternity, as we go into the world, for God is our God, and we are God’s people!
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And make disciples of all the nations,
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And I will be with you there!
Brothers and sisters in faith: Even when we fail to trust God’s power in our life; God turns to us in grace. As God’s people, let us turn to the Lord, to be reconciled, to be blessed anew, to go into the world!
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And make disciples of all the nations,
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And I will be with you there!
Friends in Christ: The friendship of the Lord is great. Celebrate and believe anew, all God is! Go into the world; you are blessed anew, with a living covenant that can never be broken!
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And make disciples of all the nations,
Go ye, go ye, into the world,
And I will be with you there!
Loving God, as we trust anew you as our Lord and Savior, increase our faith to believe in new ways that you bless us first, each and every day. Let now be the time you and your saving grace bless us anew. By your Holy Spirit, we say ‘yes’ to your call and we boldly make known this truth: God is Who God is. As we go where you send us, as we care for what you give us, as we share your every blessing, as we make you and our neighbors first, fill us one and all with your presence, power and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its harvest. My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and is brought back by another, you should know that whoever brings back a sinner from wandering will save the sinner’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
(New Revised Standard Version)
Be sure to join us in person, or on facebook for Lord of Life LIVE for this special music!
John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not stop him; for no one who does a deed of power in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. Whoever is not against us is for us. For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose the reward. “If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell, where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched. “For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
As we hear God’s Word and power calling out to each of us, we remember God called Saul to become the Apostle Paul. Paul wrote words of conviction, proclaiming all God is in Jesus Christ. Let us boldly share our faith with the same trust and hope in God’s grace.
“What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Amen.
These days we are told to watch our salt intake - to not over do. Yet, when it comes to our spiritual journey, Jesus tells us to pour it on! In Jesus' day, salt was used every day, with a variety of uses; its value was wide spread. As we trust anew, God is Who God is, blessing us each and every day, we are reminded, God blesses us first, God graces us first, each and every day, adding value, flavor, healing, and hope; passing to us every day the grace of Jesus Christ! May we each day boldly believe anew, God is Who is God is: God has many uses for us; God has preserved us in salvation; God blesses us to be a blessing; God calls us and sends us; God gifts us in The Spirit. Thanks to the hope faith provides, may we trust anew again and again, The One who graces us, saves us, forgives us, renews us; blessing us in new ways, each and every day!
1. Each and every day, Christ blesses us, thanks to the One who is at work through each of us, calling us to pass the salt, to add purpose, flavor and meaning to life.
A. As God’s children, we trust anew, and we pass along the purpose we have in Christ alone.
Mark 9:42-48
B. Each day, we trust anew, who Christ has created us to be, and all we have been graced to become!
2. Each and every day, Christ blesses us, thanks to the One who is calling us to pass the salt; to share and to preserve the power of salvation!
A. As God's children, we trust anew, and we go in new ways, to pass along, and to witness to, and to preserve the truth!
Mark 9:40
B. Each day, we are blessed to live anew in the gift of salvation!
3. Each and every day, Christ blesses us, thanks to the One who is calling us to pass the salt, to live trusting and sharing God's healing power.
A. As God’s children, we trust anew, and we pass along the hope, healing, forgiveness, wholeness, God provides.
James 5:13-16
B. Each day, we are blessed anew, resurrected, restored, made new, given the gifts of healing and life!
4. Each and every day, Christ blesses us to believe anew the One Who is calling us to pass the salt, to share our gifts; trusting we are equipped and blessed in The Spirit in power and grace to be God’s children, forever!
A. As God’s children, we trust anew, and we pass along, who blesses us, The One who has made the greatest sacrifice of all to name us and claim us and bless us as his very own, forever!
Mark 9:40-41
B. Each day and every day, we are blessed to trust anew, God is Who God is, in the life giving, life changing, transforming power and grace of Jesus!
5. Salt adds flavor and meaning, saves, heals, gives life, can be trusted. God’s Word today, each and every day, blesses us in ways, in the grace of Jesus; God pours it on! Believe again, believe anew, believe like never before, in The One who believes in you! Trust anew, God is Who God is, and graces us, saves us, forgives us, renews us; blessing us, each and every day!

vs. 1
Lord I come, I confess,
Bowing here, I find my rest.
Without You, I fall apart,
You’re the one that guides my heart.
refrain:
Lord, I need You, oh I need You;
Every hour, I need You.
My one defense, my righteousness,
Oh God, how I need You!
vs. 2
Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more.
Where grace is found is where You are.
And where You are, Lord I am free;
Holiness is Christ in me!
(refrain)
You’re my one defense,
My righteousness,
Oh God, how I need You!
My one defense, my righteousness,
Oh God, how I need You!
...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Bless us anew, with all that is, in your Spirit, and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
vs. 1
This is My body, given for you,
This is the cup that holds
The blood of a new covenant.
This is forgiveness, simple and true,
This is the way that I have made for you.
refrain:
Before you eat, before you drink,
Take a long look inside,
And tell Me what you see,
He said do this in remembrance of Me,
Do this in remembrance of Me.
vs. 2
This is the bread of life, broken for you,
This is the cup that holds
The wine of a new covenant.
This is the love of Christ, poured out anew,
This is the Son of God who died for you.
(refrain)
bridge:
I will remember the cross
That You bore for me.
I will remember the crown
That You wore for me.
I will remember the reason
You suffered and died.
vs. 3
This is My body, given for you,
This is the cup that holds
The blood of a new covenant.
This is forgiveness, simple and true,
This is the way that I have made for you. I am the way,
This is the way that I have made for you.
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you live anew in the grace of all God is. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
refrain:
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
O my soul;
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before,
O my soul;
I’ll worship Your holy name.
vs. 1
The sun comes up,
It’s a new day dawning,
It’s time to sing Your song again.
Whatever may pass,
And whatever lies before me,
Let me be singing when the evening comes.
(refrain)
vs. 2
You’re rich in love
And You’re slow to anger.
Your name is great
And Your heart is kind.
For all Your goodness,
I will keep on singing;
Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find.
(refrain)
vs. 3
And on that day,
When my strength is failing,
The end draws near,
And my time has come;
Still, my soul will sing
Your praise unending
Ten thousand years,
And then forevermore!
(refrain twice)
Worship Your holy name;
Lord, I’ll worship Your holy name.
