With heart and soul and voice
Now ye need not fear the grave

Calls you one and calls you all
To gain his everlasting hall

Friends, we come to worship and rejoice, with heart and soul and voice, heaven and nature sing in God’s joy to the world, for Christ is born to save, to come to us anew! In Emmanuel, God’s grace is forever alive among us, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
In the spirit of Christmas and as we begin the year 2022, let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have failed to adore Christ the Lord, the newborn King.
(silence for reflection)
Friends of Emmanuel: God is with us, The Lord is come, to make you new in every gift of joy and grace in these words: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins! Sing a new song unto the Lord! He has done marvelous things! Break into joyful song and sing praises! Emmanuel is here! O, come, let us adore Him!
vs 1
Oh come all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
Oh come ye oh come ye
To Bethlehem
Come and behold him
Born the King of angels
refrain:
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Christ the Lord
Through his bright light the Lord is alive, making known his victory. The Word has become flesh. God has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness. This is his Christmas gift to you and to the world. Search no longer for hope and grace! Live anew! Emmanuel is with us! Make a joyful noise to the Lord! Break forth into joyful song, sing praises! Greet The One who is here! Come, let us adore Him!
vs 4
Yea Lord we greet thee
Born this happy morning
Jesus to thee be glory giv’n
Word of the Father
Now in flesh appearing
refrain:
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Christ the Lord
Loving God, you are the Faithful One. In the awe of Christmas, you, Emmanuel, come to us. In you alone, heaven and sing. Keep Christ coming to us, keep Christmas coming to us. Whenever we go searching for you, renew in us your living hope and grace, here and now, in The Word made flesh, The Light no darkness can overcome. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
For thus says the Lord: Sing a loud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, “Save, O Lord, your people, the remnant of Israel.” See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those with child and those in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here. With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; and Ephraim is my first born. Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd a flock.” For the Lord has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall become like a watered garden, and they shall never languish again. Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. I will give the priests their fill of fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my bounty.
(New Revised Standard Version)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This is he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.
(New Revised Standard Version)
God’s Son who was born in a manger, who went forward to make us one through his death and resurrection, will come again. Trusting heaven and nature sing in the hope and grace in Emmanuel, we share our faith, for our light has come and the darkness will not overcome it.
God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.
Do you ever wish you had more time? Time sure seems in short supply. Where did 2021 go any way? How do we slow things down enough to take in more of it? One of the blessed gifts of Christmas is that even when we fail to have time for God, God makes it priority to have time for us. God is in constant search of being in relationship with us, even when we do not make time for him. If you are wondering if there is still time this Christmas to open some of the treasured gifts God has for you, God says, `yes!' God has been coming to his people since the beginning of time. Thanks be to God, there is still time to open the wonders of his love, God's gifts of `grace and truth.' Heaven and nature sing, here, now, and there is still time to see the Word made flesh alive and dwelling in the very center of your life!
1. In your excitement this year, did you remember to open the greatest gift of all? There is still time. Heaven and nature sing, here, now: "The Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's son, full of grace and truth."
John 1:14

Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
