Light of the World
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes
Let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life
Spent with you
refrain:
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love’s sake
Became poor
Today, the One who treasures us first gives us a new epiphany thanks to the One who on every level, blesses us with light and grace, so, here we are to worship, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen. By grace our lives are holy, our hearts are true, hope is ours. I cry to you, Lord, and you hear me. You alone meet me on my level; you bring me out from the depths, and you alone restore me.
People of God: The Lord does hear you; your every prayer, your every confession. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we fail to trust the grace and light of Christ.
(silence for reflection)
People in Christ: Sing praises to the Lord, give thanks to his holy name. His anger is but for a moment, while his favor is for a lifetime. Our new epiphany in grace is clear on every level: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Forever glorify the Lord in your life on every level!
vs. 1
In my life Lord
Be glorified
Be glorified
In my life Lord
Be glorified today
Friends of Jesus: By the Lord’s favor, our prayers are heard; our mourning is turned into dancing; we are established as strong as the mountains. Trust anew, God’s Word! In grace and light, get up and do not be silent; glorify the Lord in your heart on every level!
vs 3
In my heart Lord
Be glorified
Be glorified
In my heart Lord
Be glorified today
Friends in faith: The Lord is our strength and our hope; we will not be moved. As God’s Holy Church; give thanks for every epiphany, for God is making Jesus known on every level! May God’s Church forever glorify God’s light and grace!
Almighty and loving God, as Jesus met those around him on every level; come to us, call out to us, fill us by your Spirit with a new life long epiphany of light and grace to glorify you alone. Teach us and touch us on every level, as you and your greatness fill us. Enter your Church, our worship, our hearts, and lives, to lift up our voices and to make God and our neighbors first in new ways. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Thus says the Lord: Cursed are those who trust in mere mortals and make mere flesh their strength, whose hearts turn away from the Lord. They shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when relief comes. They shall live in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by the water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. The heart is devious above all else; it is perverse – who can understand it? I the Lord test the mind and search the heart, to give to all according to their ways, according to the fruit of their doings.
(New Revised Standard Version)
Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon. They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them. Then Jesus looked up at his disciples and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
God’s Son who was born in a manger, who went forward to make us all one through his death and resurrection, will come again. Trusting every gift of light and grace anew in every epiphany of Emmanuel, we boldly share our faith, for the light of the One who treasures us first, has come, and the darkness will not overcome it.
God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. Amen.
`Do you get it?' `I didn't understand one thing they said.' `That guy talked way over my head.' Do you ever feel this way? Have you been in situations where you want to understand, and yet the person doing the explaining is talking on a different plain? One of the keys to being a good teacher is being able to relate the material to one's students. To present the material on the level of the listener. In Luke this morning, we read that Jesus, "came down with them and stood on a level place." Our Epiphany today is, the One who treasures us first, comes and stands with us, to meet us on this and every level. Though Jesus' ways are contrary to the world, he wants nothing to go over our heads. The Spirit fills us with light and grace to believe anew Emmanuel is forever with us on every level!
1. The One who treasures us first, comes down on our level, to help us understand him, to reveal himself, to believe and to see him, to fill us with light and grace. Luke 6:17 - "Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place,..."
A. Jesus, in his ministry, met people on every level, to teach, to preach, to heal, to forgive, to restore, to save.
i. Jesus told parables about things we can relate to.
ii. Jesus used miracles in the midst of real life events.
iii. Jesus cried with those he loved.
iv. Jesus sat down with those who were excluded.
v. Jesus faced death on our level.
B. The One who treasures us first, comes down on our level to fill us with light and grace so we might be touched by his power and presence. Luke 6:19 - "All in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them."
i. Emmanuel is forever with us; Jesus' power and presence are with us even when we cannot see him or touch him.
ii. The sacraments of baptism and communion, bring Christ's power and presence to our level.
iii. The Holy Spirit comes to us; we receive Christ on our level.
iv. The blessing of God’s people, fellow believers, is an epiphany God uses to touch us with light and grace on this and every level.
2. Though Jesus' ways are contrary to the world, The Spirit fills us with light and grace as Jesus brings his message to us on every level.
A. The Beatitudes make no sense to us in this world. The summary-like version of the Beatitudes (from Matthew 5) given in Luke 6:20-26 help us believe and see just how different God does things, how different we are in Christ.
B. That the dead would rise and the sinner would be forgiven, are a new level for us. This is the promise Jesus brings to us on every level.
1 Corinthians 15:13-18.
C. The Holy Spirit fills us with light and grace to live with faith and hope and assurance on a new level.
Jeremiah 17:5-10
3. The Holy Spirit fills us in Jesus Christ to give us a new epiphany on this and every level: God does things differently to break into our lives, to make clear, the One who treasures us first, touches us, graces us, saves us!

refrain:
There is none like You
No one else
Can touch my heart like You do
I could search for all
Eternity long and find
There is none like You
(repeat)
vs 1
Your mercy flows
Like a river wide
And healing comes
From Your hands
Suffering children
Are safe in Your arms
There is none like You
(refrain)
...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Give us a new epiphany, in your light and grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb
(repeat)
vs 1
Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity
We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, blessing you with epiphany upon epiphany, as you are filled with the light and grace of the One who treasures you first! In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
