Today we celebrate, God awakens our souls, we are transformed, in light and grace, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. Our God speaks and summons us and all the earth, from the rising of the sun to its setting. The light of God shines on us to transform us in every way, so we may go forward in faith.
People of God: The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we fail to trust and treasure The Spirit fills us and changes us with light and grace.
(silence for reflection)
Dear friends: The one who is judge over all, is filled with truth and mercy. Hear the treasured transformation and grace in these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. Be overcome with all your heart longs for; the Spirit is so welcome, and forever here!
Holy Spirit
You are welcome here
Come flood this place
And fill the atmosphere
Your glory God
Is what our hearts long for
To be overcome
By Your presence Lord
Your presence Lord
People of Faith: We are God’s changed and treasured people. Light and grace transform us! God will forever change the world. The One who treasures us first, comes to us and does not stay silent. Listen to him! See how dazzling Jesus is! Jesus changes what was, into what is! By the Spirit that is so welcome, here; be renewed! Jesus has come to one and all, to flood this place, to fill the atmosphere!
Holy Spirit
You are welcome here
Come flood this place
And fill the atmosphere
Your glory God
Is what our hearts long for
To be overcome
By Your presence Lord
Your presence Lord
Almighty and loving God, on the mountain, in the transfiguration of your Son, you showed your glory. In our ever-changing world, give us the faith to see your light endures, shining bright and sure. Holy Spirit, you are truly welcome here. Awake our souls, transform our life and hearts, to make you and our neighbors first in new ways. Be our treasured transformation. At our very core, change our outlook, our spirit, our purpose, our devotion, our worship, our ministry, your Church, each of us, and all believers. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” - not knowing what he had said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.
(New Revised Standard Version)
God’s Son who was born in a manger, who went forward to make us all one through his death and resurrection, will come again. Trusting every gift of light and grace anew in every epiphany of Emmanuel, we boldly share our faith, for the light of the One who treasures us first, has come, and the darkness will not overcome it.
God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. Amen.
`If you change the paint, then you are going to have to change the tile. And if you change the tile, then you are going to have to change the carpet. And if you change the carpet, then you are going to have to change the furniture.’ Some times we like change. Some times we do not. Perhaps one reason we may be hesitant or resist change at times, is we are not sure where the changes are going to stop. `What if changing `that’, means we end up having to change `this’ as well?’ Today as we celebrate The Transfiguration Of Our Lord, we are reminded this treasured transformation up on the mountain is only the next in a whole list of changes. God’s grace began changing things a long time ago, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Then `The Word became flesh to live among us.’ Next Jesus was baptized and the next list of epiphanies was revealed. On the mountain top, Jesus and why Jesus came change once again, and who we are changes once again as well. Thanks be to God, a new look, a new outlook, a new direction, a new purpose, a new outcome and a new starting point are just a few of the treasured transformations that go on and on in God’s light and grace!
1. In the Transfiguration Of Our Lord, The Spirit fills us with light and grace to see the treasured transformations breaking forth!

C. In the Baptism of Jesus, the carpenter’s apprentice, The Christ, True God and True Man, changes, to answer the call to preach, teach, heal and perform miracles for 3 years.
Luke 3:21-22
D. In the Transfiguration Of Our Lord, in the light and grace of this epiphany, more treasured transformations break forth!
i. Jesus is transfigured to transform us, and to bless us with `a change in scenery.’ Where we are is different!
Luke 9:28-30
ii. Jesus is transfigured to transform us, and to bless us with `a change in outlook.’ What we see is different!
2 Corinthians 4:1-2; Luke 9:32

vii. Jesus is transfigured to transform us, and to bless us with `a change in starting point.’ Where we begin next is different!
Luke 9:28-29
2. The birth of a child, the death of a loved one, a mountain top experience, a touch of reality; so many events and moments and people, every day, can put into motion so many unanticipated changes. As we say thanks to God for the epiphanies sent our way this Epiphany season, let us trust and celebrate the list of changes and revelations and joys and callings and treasured transformations will continue as we enter the season and the journey of Lent. The One who treasures us first is changed to change us, and the list of changes goes on and on in God’s light and grace!
Luke 9:28, 35

How good Lord to be here
Your glory fills the night
Your face and garments like the sun
Shine with unborrowed light
vs 2
How good Lord to be here
Your beauty to behold
Where Moses and Elijah stand
Your messengers of old
vs 5
How good Lord to be here
Yet we may not remain
But since you bid us leave the mount
Come with us to the plain
...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Change us, transform us, by your Spirit, and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place after the closing Benediction. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

My life flows on in endless song
Above earth’s lamentation
I catch the sweet though faroff hymn
That hails a new creation
refrain:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that Rock I’m clinging
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing
vs 2
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear that music ringing
It finds an echo in my soul
How can I keep from singing
(refrain)
vs 3
What though my joys and comforts die
The Lord my Savior liveth
What though the darkness gather round
Songs in the night he giveth
(refrain)
vs 4
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart
A fountain ever springing
All things are mine since I am his
How can I keep from singing
(refrain)
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, for you are transformed, in the saving grace of the One who treasures you first! In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
