Lenten Midweek Worship - Online Worship - March 30, 2022

Join us on facebook for a pre-recorded Lenten Midweek service!

The Lord almighty grant us a quiet night and peace at the last.

Amen.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

To sing praise to your name, O Most High.

To herald your love in the morning,

And your truth at the close of the day.

Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another.

Holy and gracious God, I confess I have sinned against you this day. Some of my sin I know – the thoughts and words and deeds of which I am ashamed – but some is known only to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, I ask for forgiveness. Deliver me, restore me, renew my spirit as I return to the Lord with all my heart, as I live in your compassion and grace in Jesus Christ.

By the mercy of God we are united with Jesus Christ, and in the grace of Christ alone, we are forgiven. We rest now in his peace, and rise each new morning to serve the Lord of life. Let us pray.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend our spirits. You have redeemed us, in Christ alone. Hear our prayer and listen to our cry which comes before you. Keep us as the apple of your eye, and hide us in the shadow of your wings. In righteousness we will see you, and when we awake, your presence will give us joy. Keep your heart on us, merciful God; be present and protect us through the hours of this night, so we might find rest and truth in the grace of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth
Will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace

(repeat)

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all day long? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O Lord my God! Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, and my enemy will say, “I have prevailed”; my foes will rejoice because I am shaken. But I trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.

(New Revised Standard Version)

I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands.”’ So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him....

Then the elder son became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. But he answered his father, ‘Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’ Then the father said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.’”

(New Revised Standard Version)

Beautiful Savior
King of creation
Son of God
And Son of Man
Truly I’d love thee
Truly I’d serve thee
Light of my soul
My joy my crown

Fair are the meadows
Fair are the woodlands
Robed in flow’rs
Of blooming spring
Jesus is fairer
Jesus is purer
He makes our
Sorrowing spirit sing

Beautiful Savior
Lord of the nations
Son of God
And Son of Man
Glory and honor
Praise adoration
Now and
Forevermore be thine

As God’s people, gifted to trust and to call on God’s compassion and power and peace and grace in Jesus Christ, let us pray for the needs of all God’s people.

... As we pray to you, Jesus,

Lord
Listen to your children praying
Lord
Send your Spirit in this place
Lord
Listen to your children praying
Send us love
Send us power
Send us grace

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for the sake of Christ who taught us to boldly pray these words:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Guard us in our sleeping tonight, O Lord, guide us in our waking, and awaken us that we might be your faithful and devoted disciples as we make you, our God, first in our lives.
Lord, now let your servant go in peace; your word has been fulfilled. My own eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the sight of all people; a light to reveal you to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Friends, return to The Lord your God with all your heart! Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bless you this night and all your days, as you live each day in the grace of Christ alone.
Amen.

refrain:
Have you seen Jesus my Lord
He’s here in plain view
Take a look open your eyes
He’ll show it to you

Have you ever looked at a sunset
With the sky all mellowin’ red
Seen the clouds suspended like feathers
Then I say
You’ve seen Jesus my Lord

(refrain)

Have you ever stood in a family
With the Lord there in your midst
Seen the face of Christ on each other
Then I say
You’ve seen Jesus my Lord

(refrain)
