Lenten Midweek Worship - Online Worship - March 9, 2022

Join us on facebook for a pre-recorded Lenten Midweek service!

The Lord almighty grant us a quiet night and peace at the last.

Amen.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

To sing praise to your name, O Most High.

To herald your love in the morning,

And your truth at the close of the day.

Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and one another.

Holy and gracious God, I confess I have sinned against you this day. Some of my sin I know – the thoughts and words and deeds of which I am ashamed – but some is known only to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, I ask for forgiveness. Deliver me, restore me, renew my spirit as I return to the Lord with all my heart, as I live in the power of your grace in Jesus Christ.

By the mercy of God we are united with Jesus Christ, and in the grace of Christ alone, we are forgiven. We rest now in his peace, and rise each new morning to serve the Lord of life. Let us pray.

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend our spirits. You have redeemed us, in Christ alone. Hear our prayer and listen to our cry which comes before you. Keep us as the apple of your eye, and hide us in the shadow of your wings. In righteousness we will see you, and when we awake, your presence will give us joy. Keep your heart on us, merciful God; be present and protect us through the hours of this night, so we might find rest and truth in the grace of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

More love more power
More of You in my life
More love more power
More of You in my life
And I will worship You
With all of my heart
And I will worship You
With all of my mind
And I will worship You
With all of my strength
For You are my Lord
You are my Lord

(repeat)

Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day long.

Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is always with me.

I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your decrees are my meditation.

I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.

I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.

I do not turn away from your ordinances for you have taught me.

How sweet are your words to taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’” Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And the devil said to him, “To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’” Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’ and ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time.

vs 1
What wondrous love is this
O my soul O my soul
What wondrous love is this
O my soul
What wondrous love is this
That caused the Lord of bliss
To bear the dreadful curse
For my soul for my soul
To bear the dreadful curse
For my soul

vs 2
When I was sinking down
Sinking down sinking down
When I was sinking down
Sinking down
When I was sinking down
Beneath God’s righteous frown
Christ laid aside his crown
For my soul for my soul
Christ laid aside his crown
For my soul

As God’s people, gifted to trust and to call on God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ, let us pray for the needs of all God’s people.

... As we pray to you, Jesus,

The Spirit
Intercedes for us
With sighs too deep
For words to express
Oh oh oh

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for the sake of Christ who taught us to boldly pray these words:

What shall I render to the Lord for all his bounty to me?

I pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

I lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the child of your handmaid. You have loosed my bonds.

I offer you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on your name.

I pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.

In the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

The Spirit intercedes for us
With sighs too deep
For words to express
Oh oh oh

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Guard us in our sleeping tonight, O Lord, guide us in our waking, and awaken us that we might be your faithful and devoted disciples as we make you, our God, first in our lives.
Lord, now let your servant go in peace; your word has been fulfilled. My own eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the sight of all people; a light to reveal you to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Friends, return to The Lord your God with all your heart!  Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bless you this night and all your days, as you live each day in the grace of Christ alone.
Amen.

refrain:
It is the cry of my heart to follow You
It is the cry of my heart to be close to You
It is the cry of my heart to follow
All of the days of my life

vs. 1
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
So I can walk in Your truth
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
And make me wholly devoted to You

(refrain)

vs. 2
Open my eyes so I can see
The wonderful things that You do
Open my heart up more and more
And make me wholly devoted to You

(refrain)
