Trusting God’s Grace & Light Transform, Change Everything
based on Psalm 50
Today we celebrate, our souls awake, we are transformed; this is only the beginning to God’s light and grace, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. Our God speaks and summons us and all the earth, from the rising of the sun to its setting. The light of God shines on us to transform us in every way, so we may go forward in faith.
People of God: The heavens declare God’s righteousness. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have failed to trust The Spirit fills us and changes us with light and grace.
(silence for reflection)
Friends; trust the One who is judge over all is filled with truth and mercy. Today hear these words of grace that transform us and change everything: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. Trust this is only the beginning! The Spirit is here, flooding this place, and the atmosphere!

The Lord has made us his faithful ones. We have heard his call to be gathered close to him. Though we are judged, we are set free. Through Jesus, we are God’s changed people. His Light and grace transform us, and He will forever change the world.
People of Faith: The Lord comes to us and does not stay silent. Listen to him! See how dazzling Jesus is! The Lord of life changes everything! Be renewed by Light and grace! Jesus has come! Be overcome by His presence! The Lord is your God, your salvation, and all your hearts long for!

Almighty and loving God, on the mountain, in the transfiguration of your Son, you showed your glory. In our ever-changing world, give us the faith to see your light endures, shining bright and sure. Send us your light to transform our life and spirit. As we trust each new morning is only the beginning to so much more; awake our souls. By your grace, change our outlook, our spirit, our hearts, our purpose, our devotion, our worship, our ministry, your Church. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Old Testament Lesson
Exodus 24:12-18
The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. To the elders he had said, “Wait here for us, until we come again; for Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute may go to them.” Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; on the seventh day God called to Moses out of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.

New Testament Lesson
2 Peter 1:16-21
For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

How Good, Lord, to Be Here
Robinson
vs. 1
How good Lord to be here
Your glory fills the night
Your face and garments like the sun
Shine with unborrowed light
vs. 2
How good Lord to be her
Your beauty to behold
Where Moses and Elijah stand
Your messengers of old
vs. 5
How good Lord to be here
Yet we may not remain
But since you bid us leave the mount
Come with us to the plain
Gospel
Matthew 17:1-9
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And Jesus was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three dwellings here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be afraid.” And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Tell no one about the vision until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
based on Revelation 21:5-7
God’s Son born in a manger, who went forward in obedience to make us all one through his death and resurrection will indeed come again. We share our faith thanks to each new transformation, making known to all, this is only the beginning to God’s grace; The Light has come, and the darkness will not overcome it.
God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.
Faith Quest meets following today’s Children’s Message!
A New Transformation … Is Only the Beginning
EXODUS 24:12-18; 2 PETER 1:16-21; MATTHEW 17:1-9
Our world is fast paced. Things are changing, and changing quickly. One little change can result in other changes, even making some things obsolete. Many of us like many things the way they are. We may not fear change, but at times we avoid it, steer clear of it. Some of us look for change, hope things change, help things change. As we share the transfiguration of our Lord today, let a new transformation be only the beginning. Jesus changes everything. On the mountain, Jesus was transformed to transform us - how we look, what we do, who we are. To be transformed, requires the love and faithfulness of another; we cannot transform ourselves. Celebrate a new epiphany! A new transformation in God’s grace is only the beginning to so very much more!
1. The Transfiguration of Jesus is only the beginning! Jesus changes everything, to change everything, to transform everything, even us!
A. Jesus is transformed in how he looks, how he is seen, to change how we look, how others see us!
Exodus 24:17; 2 Peter 1:16; Matthew 17:2
B. Jesus is transformed in what he does, to change what we do and how we do what we do.
Exodus 24:12; 2 Peter 1:19; Matthew 17:7-9
C. Jesus is transformed. We are transformed. Try as we might, we cannot change ourselves.
2 Peter 1:21; Matthew 17:2
D. God’s grace changes everything, except God!
Matthew 17:7-9
2. Thanks be to God, for every epiphany, for every transformation, which is only the beginning to much more! Look to, listen to, The One who changes everything! Trust, believe, hold fast, be transformed anew; The One who changes us, blesses us, graces us, never changes!
Matthew 17:5

Song Anew in Spirit & Grace
Jesus, My Lord
Fischer
refrain:
Have you seen Jesus my Lord
He’s here in plain view
Take a look open your eyes
He’ll show it to you
vs. 1
Have you ever
Looked at a sunset
With the sky
All mellowin’ red
Seen the clouds
Suspended like feathers
Then I say
You’ve seen Jesus my Lord
(refrain)
vs. 4
Have you ever
Stood in a family
With the Lord
There in your midst
Seen the face
Of Christ on each other
Then I say
You’ve seen Jesus my Lord
(refrain)
... as we pray to you, Jesus,
Change us, transform us, by your Spirit, and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.
We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.
The Words of Institution
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

While to that Rock I’m clinging
Since Christ is Lord
Of heaven and earth
How can I keep from singing

And the strife
I hear that music ringing
It finds an echo
In my soul
How can I keep from singing
(refrain)
vs. 3
What though my joys
And comforts die
The Lord my Savior liveth
What though the darkness
Gather round
Songs in the night he giveth
(refrain)
vs. 4
The peace of Christ
Makes fresh my heart
A fountain ever springing
All things are mine
Since I am his
How can I keep from singing
