Opening Song in The Spirit

Holy Spirit

Torwalt

There’s nothing worth more
That will ever come close
No thing can compare
You’re our living hope
Your Presence Lord

I’ve tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
In Your Presence Lord

Holy Spirit
You are welcome here
Come flood this place
And fill the atmosphere
Your glory God
Is what our hearts long for
To be overcome
By Your presence Lord
Your presence Lord

bridge:
Let us become
More aware
Of Your Presence
Let us experience
The glory of
Your goodness

(repeat bridge 3x)

Holy Spirit
You are welcome here
Come flood this place
And fill the atmosphere
Your glory God
Is what our hearts long for
To be overcome
By Your presence Lord

Litany Alive In The Grace and Hope In The Risen Christ and The Holy Spirit

Today we celebrate and trust anew; Holy Spirit you are so welcome here; we are alive and anew, right here, in The Spirit and God’s faithfulness and grace, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. Today we remember Jesus said, “It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is useless. The words I have spoken are spirit and life. But among you there are some who do not believe.”

Friends in faith, following the glory of Easter, Jesus breathed on his disciples the Holy Spirit and he said, “Whatever sins you forgive are forgiven.” Let us take a moment of silence to share with the Lord our sins as we receive anew The Spirit.

(silence for reflection)

Friends of our loving Lord: Remember today your own baptism. “You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever.” The grace of Easter is Jesus is alive, right here, Jesus saves, and The Risen Christ forgives you of all your sins! Sing a new song, for The Spirit of the living God falls afresh on you!

Song of Renewal

Spirit of the Living God

Iverson

Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me
Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me
Melt me Mold me
Fill me Use me
Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me

In The Holy Spirit, hope is alive, right here. Even though we can feel alone in this world, in faith we hear Jesus say, “Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

Friends, the Good News of Easter is Jesus is alive, The Spirit is right here, falling afresh on us with power and grace. “What is born of the flesh is flesh, what is born of the spirit is spirit.” You are born anew from above; restored and filled with The Spirit of the living God!

Song of Renewal

Spirit of the Living God

Iverson

Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me
Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me
Melt me Mold me
Fill me Use me
Spirit of the living God
Fall afresh on me

Loving God, as the Easter celebration continues, we thank you for the gift of faith to believe the impossible; Jesus is risen indeed, to be alive, right here. As the ascension of Jesus is remembered, flood this place and fill the atmosphere, to remember and to receive The Holy Spirit falling afresh on each of us, to trust God’s living grace is here, and we are never alone. In The Risen Christ, we pray. Amen.

The First Lesson

Acts 17:22-31

Then Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said, “Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are in every way. For as I went through the city and looked carefully at the objects of your worship, I found among them an altar with the inscription, ‘To an unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mortals life and breath and all things. From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him –  though indeed he is not far from each one of us. For ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your poets have said, ‘For we too are his offspring.’ Since we are God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals. While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man who he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

The Second Lesson

1 Peter 3:13-22

Now who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated, but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit, in which also he went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison, who in former times did not obey, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that is eight persons, were saved through water. And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you – not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers made subject to him.

Song of Hope & Life Anew

Breathe

Smith

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence
Living in me
This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very Word
Spoken to me
And I
I’m desp’rate for You
And I
I’m lost without You

(repeat)

And I
I’m desp’rate for You
And I
I’m lost without You
This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe

Gospel

John 14:15-21

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides in you, and he will be in you. I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

based on Revelation 21:5-7

As we hear The Easter Gospel, and believe anew The Risen Christ is right here raising one and all to new life, let us today boldly state our faith, trusting our God’s faithfulness and living grace will never fail us.

God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.

Alive, in Faith, Right Here

ACTS 17:22-31; 1 PETER 3:13-22; JOHN 14:15-21

It seems like sooner or later, time for one thing passes, and we are left to move onto the next.  Even for our God, there was a time to create, to lead out of slavery, to announce prophecies, and for God to fulfill such prophecies – for The Christ, The Anointed One, to be born.  A time for God, at God’s time, for The Christ to be arrested, put on trial, and crucified, and then to rise from the dead.  Time just keeps moving along, and God just keeps on moving along to the next thing.  Even after Jesus was raised from the dead, the time would come for Jesus to move along, to ascend into heaven, so Jesus gave his followers an Advocate: The Holy Spirit.  Indeed, one day God will move along to the next thing, and Christ will come again.  It must have been easy for the disciples to feel abandoned when Jesus ascended, but they were not left on their own, and neither are we.  Will the time ever come when The Holy Spirit abandons us, leaves us to fail, leaves us alone, does not give us what we need, causing us to worry about what lies before us?  Not now!  Not ever! Will the time ever come when The Holy Spirit is not in our midst, alive, right here, faithfully giving us grace?  Not now!  Not ever! For Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

1. Would God bring us to this point, provide us with forgiveness, salvation, and then abandon us? Not now! Not ever!
John 14:18

A. We are not saved, so that we would be left orphaned.

B. Even when it can feel like, `where do we go from here;’ trust God is faithful, alive, right here, for The One who has brought you this far, has farther for you still to go!

2. Do you ever wonder if you are being set up for failure?  Not now!  Not ever!
1 Peter 3:17-18

A. You have been claimed by Christ.  Do you usually put your name on things that do not matter to you?  Neither does God!

B. Trust God is faithful, alive, right here, for being baptized in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit is a gift that will never, ever, fail us.

3. Do you ever feel all alone?  Like no one understands you?  Like no one really knows you?  Like you have all kinds of people around you, and yet you are alone? Not now! Not ever!
Acts 17:24,27; John 14:16-17

A. Making God and neighbors first, trusting God’s certainty, when others tell us to let go of God in the midst of uncertainty, can leave us alone.

B. The Advocate, The Holy Spirit, is faithful, alive, right here, with us forever!

4. Do we need to worry about the future, our future? Should we worry about what is before us, or what is coming next? Not now! Not ever!
Acts 17:31; 1 Peter 3:14-15; John 14:17

A. We have an assurance, we do not fear, we are not intimidated; for we are not alone.

B. Worry wears us down.  The Spirit is faithful, alive, right here; overcoming all that overwhelms; giving power, hope and grace!

5. Is The Holy Spirit satisfied? Not now! Not ever! The Holy Spirit is faithfully still alive, right here, on the move, blessing us with power and grace! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Acts 17:24, 30-31; 1 Peter 3:18-20; John 14:16-17, 20-21

Song of Hope & Grace Anew

Revelation Song

Riddle

Worthy is the
Lamb who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song
To Him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat

(repeat)

refrain:
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows
Of living color
Flashes of lightning rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor
Strength and glory and power be
To You the only wise King

(refrain)

Filled with wonder
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power
Breath and living water
Such a marv’lous mystery

(refrain)

...as we pray to you, Jesus,
Risen Savior, raise us to live anew, right here, in your living hope and grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord and Savior.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

Mighty to Save

Fielding & Morgan

Everyone needs compassion
A love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

refrain:
Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender
Yes I surrender

(refrain)

Shine your light and
Let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus Shine your light and
Let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King

(refrain)

You’re my Savior
You can move the mountains
God You are mighty to save
You are mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
You rose and conquered the grave
Yes You conquered the grave
You are mighty to save

The body and blood of our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in the living grace of The Risen Christ, this day, this most blessed and holy morning, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Risen Lord of life. Amen.

The Risen Lord bless you and keep you. The Risen Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Risen Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, for you are alive and anew, right here, in the living grace of Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

With Easter hearts; let us go in the peace of Christ, alive and anew, right here, celebrating the love of God, and serving The Risen Lord of life.
Thanks be to God! Alleluia!
