Opening Song in The Spirit

Holy, Holy, Holy

Heber & Dykes

vs. 1
Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

vs. 2
Holy holy holy
All the saints adore thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before thee
Which wert and art and
Evermore shalt be

vs. 3
Holy holy holy
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eye made blind by sin
Thy glory may not see
Only thou art holy
There is none beside thee
Perfect in pow’r
In love and purity

Litany Celebrating God’s Faithfulness, Power & Grace in the Trinity

Based on Psalm 8

Today we celebrate, The One who is holy, and we trust anew, The One who is God in three persons, Blessed Trinity, as we feel the rush of the wind in God’s grace, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. O Lord, our Lord, your name is the most majestic name in all the earth. Your name brings praise on earth and in heaven. You have taught children and babies, each one of your children, to sing praises to you and your holy name!

People of God, today we celebrate the blessed Trinity; God keeps creating wonder and majesty. Let us come, and feel the rush of the wind in God’s grace, trusting in the authority of God; the Creator is faithful, and this is truly our Father’s world!

Song of Trust & Grace Anew

This Is My Father’s World

Babcock & Sheppard

vs. 1
This is my Father’s world
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings and round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees
Of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought

I look to the heavens, which you made with your fingers. I see the moon and the stars, which you alone have created, and I ask, “Why are people important to you?”

Friends of Jesus: We often ask, “Why do you, God, take care of human beings?” Yet, You made us a little lower than angels. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have not trusted the majesty of The Trinity

(silence for reflection)

People of faith: Feel the rush of the wind anew in God’s grace; Jesus Christ saves! God in His only Son Jesus and in His grace, forgives you all your sins! Come, now, one and all, once again to Jesus, the One who forever first comes to you!

Song of True Grace Anew

Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus)

Rice

(Worship leaders on verses All on bold print)

vs. 1
Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O raise your head
For Love is passin’ by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
And live

vs. 2
Now your burdens lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has
Washed away the stain
So sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
And live

Today we trust the power and faithfulness and breath of The Spirit. God alone has set us free. We have been made a little lower than angels, crowned with glory and honor. God has given us dominion over all the earth, to care for all creation.

Friends who trust the authority and majesty of God: Today you have heard again the wonders of God. Let us all come, and then go and sing; rejoicing and trusting in new ways, the rush of the wind, for there is a sweet, sweet, Spirit in this and every place!

Song of Spirit of Hope Anew

Sweet, Sweet Spirit

Akers

There’s a sweet sweet Spirit in this place
And I know that it’s The Spirit of The Lord
There are sweet expressions on each face
And I know they feel the presence of The Lord

refrain:
Sweet Holy Spirit
Sweet heavenly Dove
Stay right here with us
Filling us with your love
And for these blessings
We lift our hearts in praise
Without a doubt we’ll know
That we have been revived
When we shall leave this place

Loving God, you dwell in majesty and mystery. You alone are all things to all people. Today renew and fulfill the gift of faith that we might make known you, our God, are Three In One. By Your Holy Spirit, we will feel the rush of The Wind; we will believe anew The Father’s love for us, we will live in Jesus alone who comes to us, and then stir us up, to make you and our neighbors first in the grace of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

New Testament Lesson

Romans 8:12–17

So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh – for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ – if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song of Reign and Glory

All Creatures of Our God and King

Saint Francis of Assisi

vs. 1
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice with us and sing
Alleluia
Alleluia
O burning sun with golden beam
And silver moon with softer gleam

ref:
Oh praise him
Oh praise him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

vs. 7
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship God in humbleness
Oh praise him
Alleluia
Oh praise the Father Praise the Son
And praise the Spirit Three in One

(refrain)

Gospel

John 3:1–17

Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God.” Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? Very truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, The Father, The Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of The Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with The Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of The Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of The Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in The Holy Spirit, The Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from The Father and The Son. With The Father and The Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Feel the Rush of Three to Your Side

ROMANS 8:12-17; REVELATION 8:12-17; JOHN 3:1-17

How do you feel when you do not understand something?  When you do not get it?  Are you compelled to figure it out on your own, before you can move on?  What if you were trying to figure out The Holy Trinity?  Do you get it?  Are you able to understand who The Trinity is, how The Trinity works?  Do you ever get so caught up seeking the understanding you are looking for that you miss the main point?  Do you ever try to force understanding so much, you limit the power of the knowledge?  Do you know that with regard to The Holy Trinity, you do not have to get it, you do not have to understand how it works or who it is, in order to get all God provides?  As we celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday, feel the rush of The Wind, feel Three at your side, and celebrate all God declares, all God is, in The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit!

1. Do you get it, feel the rush of Three to your side; God is `Three in One’?

A. `Three in One’ means `Three in One’ which is not so easy to get.
John 3:2,8

i. Many people have tried to relate The Trinity to other concepts, but every comparison breaks down at some point.

a. These `Three’ are not like the chords of a rope, for they are each strong enough on their own.

b. These `Three’ are not like an egg, for they can each do what the others do just as well.

ii. `Three in One’ has no comparison.  This `Three in One’ God breaks down every other god at every point.

B. `Three in One’ means all Three work together no matter where each one is, no matter that they are individuals.
Revelation 8:12-17

2. Do you get it, feel the rush of Three to your side, The Holy Trinity is actually more about truth than it is about doctrine?

A. Preachers are taught to preach.  Some times special emphases and special Sundays can tempt us to teach, rather than to preach.
John 3:10-12

B. The Holy Trinity is filled with truth, conviction, promise, power, hope and grace - this is what we are `all in One’ called to go and tell.
Revelation 8:13,17; John 3:3-5

3. Are you getting all of this?  Feel the rush of The Wind of Three to your side: `God in Three persons’ wants to give you all God has, all God is!
John 3:7

A. God declares to you, `I am Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I have so much to give you, for you to have, for you to get, for you to trust.’

i. The Father - still creating opportunities and hope.
Revelation 8:15-17; John 3:17

ii. The Son - Nicodemus did not get Jesus or understand him at first.  Little by little, Nicodemus got all he needed in The One given for God so loved the world.
John 3:16

iii. The Holy Spirit - The Spirit is The Spirit in our midst helping us do the unexplainable.
Revelation 8:14; John 3:6

B. God declares to you, `Don’t worry if you do not get it, and do not understand all of this `Three in One’ thing.  Feel the rush of The Wind, as Three rush to your side.  You do not have to understand Me to be saved by Me, to be Mine!’
Revelation 8:16; John 3:7

Song of Spirit Anew

We Fall Down/Holy, Holy, Holy

Tomlin, Heber & Dykes

We fall down we lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb

(repeat)

vs. 1
Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

We fall down we lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, let us feel the rush of your presence and grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord and Savior.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

In this time of desperation
When all we know is doubt and fear
There is only one foundation
We believe we believe

We believe in God the Father

We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He’s coming back again
We believe

vs. 2
So
Let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing
And in our weakness and temptations
We believe
We believe

(refrain 1 then bridge)

bridge:
Let the lost be found
And the dead be raised
In the here and now
Let love invade
Let the Church live loud
Our God will save
We believe

And the gates of hell
Will not prevail
For the pow’r of God
Has torn the veil
Now we know Your love
Will never fail
We believe
We believe

(refrain 2)

refrain 2:
We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He’s coming back

He’s coming back again
He’s coming back again
We believe
We believe

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the rush of The Wind in God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
