Gathering In The Spirit

Blessed Be Your Name

Redman

vs. 1
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

vs. 2
Blessed be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name

Ev’ry blessing You pour out I’ll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in Lord
Still I will say

(refrain)

refrain:
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

bridge:
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord blessed be Your name

Litany Celebrating the Rush of the Wind in Power & Grace

BASED ON PSALM 100

Today we trust anew God’s grace rushes in like the wind to fill our lives and souls with The Perfect One, blessed be your name, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come into his presence with singing.

People of God: The Lord of life invites us to come into his presence, to make a joyful noise. Let us take a moment of silence, to confess our sins, and those times we often, come so divided, that our song is weighed down with guilt and shame, rather than praise.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his. We are his people, and the sheep of his hand.” Feel the rush of The Wind in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. Trust, hold fast; for The Perfect One, changes our hearts!

Song of Grace Anew

Change My Heart, O God

Espinosa

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like You

You are the Potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like You

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.  May we forever feel the rush The Wind; we are forgiven, and we follow anew The Perfect One!

Friends of Jesus: We are the family of God. The Lord is good, his steadfast love endures forever! Go, celebrate, make a joyful noise with one and all, trust anew, The Perfect One changes every heart!

Song of Grace Anew

Change My Heart, O God

Espinosa

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like You

You are the Potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart O God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O God
May I be like You

Almighty and loving God, you alone are our source of strength and grace; we put our hope in you alone, The Perfect One. Today we ask you to once again knit us together as the family of God. By your Holy Spirit, let us feel the rush of The Wind, as you renew our faith to trust you hear our prayers, to believe anew the gifts of forgiveness and salvation, to make your name known to one and all.  In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

The Old Testament

GENESIS 3:8–15

They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent tricked me, and I ate.” The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you among all animals and among all wild creatures; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman; and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

The New Testament

2 CORINTHIANS 4:13–5:1

But just as we have the same spirit of faith that is in accordance with scripture – “I believed, and so I spoke” – we also believe, and so we speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, and will bring us with you into his presence. Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  (New Revised Standard Version)

Song of Hope & Grace

Be Thou My Vision

Byrne

vs. 1
Be thou my vision
O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me
Save that thou art
Thou my best thought
By day and by night
Waking or sleeping
Thy presence my light

vs. 2
Be thou my wisdom
And thou my true word
I ever with thee and thou
With me Lord
Thou my soul’s shelter
Thou my high tow’r
Raise thou me heav’nward
O Pow’r of my pow’r

vs. 4
Light of my soul
After victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys
O heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart
Whatever befall
Still be my vision
O Ruler of all

(repeat vs 1)

Gospel

MARK 3:20–35

Then Jesus went home; and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.” And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.” And Jesus called them to him, and he spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered. Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” – for they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.” Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him; “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside, asking for you.” And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

Stating Our Faith in God

BASED ON PSALM 89

As we feel the rush of The Wind, let us speak boldly of all we believe, trusting God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ.

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.

The Rush Of The Wind … In the Perfect One

GENESIS 3:8-15; 2 CORINTHIANS 4:13-5:1; MARK 3:20-35

Where will the coming weeks take you?  Graduation parties, weddings, family reunions, vacations, trips, outings, family celebrations, picnics, games and tournaments, more.  So many activities, so many encounters, so many exchanges, so many opportunities to come together, to be together, and yet, so many chances for God’s imperfect people to be imperfect.  Much is forever going forward; and at times this may not be easy.  God’s people going forward, at times, is not always easy either.  Where does your spiritual life continue to take you?  So many encounters, exchanges, chances for God’s imperfect people to be imperfect.  As our readings today remind us, from Adam and Eve, to those who followed Jesus, to early believers, The Perfect One, and perfect grace break forth with the gift of forgiveness to restore the imperfect, to renew you and me, one and all, with the rush of The Wind!

1. Adam and Eve were in The Perfect Garden, still they were imperfect.  We are only human, too.  We try, too, to justify ourselves, to defend ourselves, to rationalize our actions and choices, to blame others, rather than simply ask for mercy, and to feel the rush of The Wind!
Genesis 3:8-15

A. The One who created us, did not create us to be perfect.  We were not created to be God.

B. We were created to imperfectly believe and trust in The One who is perfect, perfectly forgives us, makes us one, graces us!

2. Early believers were passionate, yet, they, too, were imperfect.  Those who witnessed them saw them as fanatical, rather than passionate, faithful.  We can fear, too, how others see us and our faith, and we can sacrifice being faithful for being accepted, included.  Feel the rush of The Perfect Wind, renewing you and your faith!
2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1

A. So easy for us to play it safe, live it safe, keep it safe.

B. The One who is perfect, perfectly forgives us.

C. Feel the rush of The Wind!  Be bold once again!

3. Relationships are such a blessing, and yet, relationships, too, can be imperfect.  Jesus reminds us today being true to our faith, will build the strongest relationships, with our brothers and sisters and family, and across the family of God.
Mark 3:20-35

A. Imperfect moments, sadly often divide us.

B. Satan can appear tireless.  God is tireless, and perfectly faithful.

C. When we feel conflicted, when times are complicated, when issues appear divisive, and all appears imperfect, let’s stay close to The One who stays close to us, The One who is perfect, The One who is our brother, The One who restores our relationships, makes us brothers and sisters and family.

4. Where does your spiritual life continue to take you?  So many encounters, exchanges, chances for God’s imperfect people to be imperfect.  Feel the rush of The Wind in The Perfect One!  Scars are healed, we are renewed!  The One who does God’s will, is our brother.  The Lord has mercy, perfectly gracing us once again!
Mark 3:35

Song of Spirit & Grace Anew

Here I Am, Lord

Schutte

I the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save
I who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them
Whom shall I send

refrain:
Here I am Lord
Is it I Lord
I have heard
You calling in the night
I will go Lord
If you lead me
I will hold
Your people in my heart

I the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide
‘Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send

(refrain)

… as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Let us feel the rush of your presence and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

Just As I Am, I Come Broken

Cottrell

vs. 1
Just as I am without one plea
But that thy blood was shed for me
And that thou bidd’st me come to thee
O Lamb of God I come I come

vs. 2
Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To thee whose blood can cleanse each spot
O Lamb of God I come I come

refrain:
I come broken to be mended
I come wounded to be healed
I come desperate to be rescued
I come empty to be filled
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ the Lamb
And I’m welcomed with open arms
Praise God just as I am

vs. 3
Just as I am I would be lost
But mercy and grace my freedom bought
And now to glory in your cross
O Lamb of God I come I come

(refrain)

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the rush of The Wind in God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!

We seek Your kingdom first
We hunger and we thirst

For heaven’s cause
We are Your church
We pray revive this earth

Show Your mighty hand
Heal our streets and land
Set Your church on fire
Win this nation back

Reaching the near and far

We are the hope on earth
