Gathering In Glory & Grace

Hear Our Praises

Morgan

vs. 1
May our homes be filled with dancing
May our streets be filled with joy
May injustice bow to Jesus
As the people turn to pray

refrain:
From the mountains
To the valleys
Hear our praises
Rise to You
From the heavens
To the nations
Hear our singing
Fill the air

vs. 2
May Your light shine in the darkness
As we walk before the cross
May Your glory fill the whole earth
As the water o’er seas

(refrain)

Litany Giving God Thanks for All of God’s Glory & Grace

BASED ON PSALM 145

Today we give thanks and believe anew, from the mountains to the valleys, our praises fill the air, every detail is in the glory and grace of the best hands of all, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. I will give thanks to my God and King forever and ever. Every day, in every way, I will bless you and praise your name.

People of God: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to put our trust in the glory and grace of our merciful Lord.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: Thanks be to God for his gifts of glory and grace in these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. The Lord is good, his compassion is revealed in every detail. Sing anew, live anew, this is our Father’s world!

Song of Grace Anew

This is My Father’s World

Babcock & Sheppard

vs. 1
This is my Father’s world
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings
And round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees
Of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought

Let us proclaim the Lord’s awesome deeds, declaring his greatness in every detail, wherever we go. Let us celebrate and sing of God’s righteousness.

Friends in Christ: One generation shall pass on the Lord’s works to another. Let us be ready for Christ himself, as we declare every detail of his splendor and majesty. Thanks be to God, this is our Father’s world!

Song of Grace Anew

This is My Father’s World

Babcock & Sheppard

vs. 2
This is my Father’s world
The birds their carols raise
The morning light
The lily white
Declare their maker’s praise
This is my Father’s world
He shines in all that’s fair
In the rustling grass
I hear him pass
He speaks to me ev’rywhere

Loving God, you are the source of every blessing; your generous glory and grace come to us freely every day. Stir us up today to thank you and praise you for your faithfulness. As you tend to every last detail in our lives, we trust your greatness provides us with all we need, for all good gifts are sent from heaven above. By your Holy Spirit, grace us once again, to believe and to see anew. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Faith Quest Sunday School does not meet today.

The Old Testament

DANIEL 12:1–3

An angelic messenger said to Daniel regarding the last days, “At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

The New Testament

HEBREWS 10:11–25

And every priest stands day after day at his service, offering again and again the same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,” and since then he has been waiting “until his enemies would be made a footstool for his feet.” For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,” says the Lord: “I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds,” he also adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song Anew In Grace

I Love to Tell The Story

Hankey & Fischer

vs. 1
I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above
Of Jesus and his glory
Of Jesus and his love
I love to tell the story
Because I know it’s true
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else would do

refrain:
I love to tell the story
I’ll sing this theme in glory
And tell the old old story
Of Jesus and his love

vs. 2
I love to tell the story
How pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it
More wonderfully sweet
I love to tell the story
For some have never heard
The message of salvation
From God’s own holy Word

(refrain)

vs. 3
I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest
And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new new song
I’ll sing the old old story
That I have loved so long

(refrain)

Gospel

MARK 13:1–8

As Jesus came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings!” Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.” When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign that all these things are about to be accomplished?” Then Jesus began to say to them, “Beware that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birth pangs.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

Stating Our Faith in God

HEBREWS 11-12:2

God has blessed God’s people with faith from the beginning of time. Long ago witnesses proclaimed all good gifts in Jesus’ glory and grace were sufficient for the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Let us share our faith using these same words.

All: Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.

Glory & Grace In Every Last Detail

DANIEL 12:1-3; HEBREWS 10:11-18; MARK 13:1-8

Details, details, details.  Do you have enough to take care of, these days?  Would you like a few more?  How does your `to do' list look?  Would you like to trade with someone?  Would you like to give all those details to someone else to take care of?  How would you feel if someone stepped in, thinking they can handle the details more efficiently than you?  That they could get it organized, in order, accomplished better than you?  As we reflect on Mark’s gospel, read stories from scripture, concerning the end times, how many of us would like to know all the details, want to make sure God has it all taken care of, would like to know more, or step in a little, or think we know how God will handle it all?  Thanks be to God, Jesus and God's Word remind, empower, fill, command, surrender, calm each of us again today, to trust our true net worth is in God’s grace alone; there is no detail too small, that the Lord is not aware of, that God is not in control of, that God in glory and grace will not satisfy in God’s way in God’s time!

1. How are you at taking care of all the details?

A. Life is full of details.  Can you keep up?  God can!!

B. How are you at getting it all organized?  Keeping it all straight? Does it ever feel overwhelming?

C. How are you at letting others take care of some of the details?  How about those details you feel are most important?

2. How are you at trusting God; the details he is in charge of and oversees?

A. With regard to the end times, there are so many details that we do not know about, that we will never know.

i. Here are just a few of the details.

a. Mark 13:2 - Every stone will be cast down.  Like the Temple, every foundation we build up for ourselves alone, will one day be destroyed.

b. Mark 13:3-4 - In Zechariah 14:1-4, the prophet predicts one day, one day from the Mount Of Olives, from which its high slopes Jerusalem and the Temple can be seen, one day the Messiah will come and return to establish his eternal kingdom.

c. Mark 13:5-6 - If you try to be in charge of every detail others may lead you astray.  Likewise, if you do not follow Jesus with great detail, others might slip in.  Make no mistake, if Jesus appears in your midst, you will know!

d. Mark 13:7-8 - If you are trying to count the days based upon `nation rising up against nation' and `rumors of war,' you might be led to believe the end times have been near for a long, long time.

e. Mark 13:8 - If you prefer to keep your eyes on other details, like earthquakes and famines, you too, might feel like the end is in sight.

f. Daniel 12:1-3 - There might be anguish, but we will also be delivered.

g. Hebrews 10:11-18 - Jesus has sat down at the right hand of God; he is waiting, waiting for you, for the end times, for that day when forgiveness is needed no more, when all will be perfect!

ii. If we trust God has a plan for us; if we trust God is active in our lives; let us trust God has the end times in control.

iii. Thanks be to God, God has a plan, and a watchful hand, even if at times that does not feel like enough for now.

B. Thanks be to God, our true net worth is in God’s grace alone; every day, for all time, when it comes to the end times, when it comes to the now times, when it comes to each of us, God in glory and grace is in control of every last detail!

Song of Praise & Grace Anew

Revelation Song

Riddle

Worthy is the
Lamb who was slain
Holy holy is He
Sing a new song
To Him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat

(repeat)

refrain:
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows
Of living color
Flashes of lightning
Rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and
Glory and power be
To You the only wise King

(refrain)

Filled with wonder
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power
Breath and living water
Such a marv’lous mystery

(refrain)

...as we pray to you, Jesus,
Gracious God, we give you thanks, for your glory and grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Song During Holy Communion

People Get Ready

Mayfield

vs. 1
People get ready
There’s a train a-comin’
You don’t need no baggage
You just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels hummin’
You don’t need no ticket
You just thank the Lord

vs. 2
So people get ready
For the train to Jordan
Picking up passengers
Coast to coast
Faith is the key
Open the doors and board them
There’s hope for all
Among those loved the most

refrain:
Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord
Ooh

(repeat)

vs. 3
There ain’t no room
For the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those
Whose chances grow thinner
For there’s no hiding place
Against the Kingdom’s throne

ending:
Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord

(repeat 2x)

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you give thanks for God’s glory and grace! In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
