Treasuring a New Epiphany in God’s Light & Grace
BASED ON PSALM 147
Friends, today we are invited to go deep into a new epiphany, as we trust anew, blessed be the name, of the One who treasures us first, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. Praise the Lord! It is good to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious. The Lord’s grace and light run deep to build us up and to gather the outcast. The Spirit gives us hope.
People of God: The Lord determines the number of stars and he gives them all names. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to trust the Lord goes with us to the deepest and darkest places in our hearts, longing for light and grace.
(silence for reflection)
Dear friends, God heals the brokenhearted, and in Jesus Christ, God goes deep in grace and mercy; Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. This morning, all your days, trust God lifts you up, and forever purifies your heart!

Today we will seek and trust anew, the Creator, who invites us to go deep in grace. The Lord commands the earth. His Word is swift and sure, and in Christ we will stand and endure forever.'
Dear friends: `Praise the Lord for he is gracious. Our Savior and friend comes our way, climbs into our lives, and sends us forth. The Lord invites us to go deep into the One who treasures us first; the One who is our hope, the One who purifies our hearts, the One who is our way, and our salvation!'

Almighty and loving God, as Jesus came to the first disciples, come to us, call out to us, fill us by your Holy Spirit with a new life long epiphany to go down deeper into our hearts and souls. Do not let us simply seek you or serve you on the surface. Fill us by your presence and power. As you treasure us first, transform us anew at the very depths of our spirits with your light and grace, as you break into your Church, our worship, our hearts and lives, in new and blessed ways. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Faith Quest Sunday School meets today!
The Old Testament
ISAIAH 6:1–8
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory." The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. And I said: "Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!" Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: "Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out." Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!"

The New Testament
1 CORINTHIANS 15:1–11
Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you - unless you have come to believe in vain. For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them - though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe.

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone
My hope is found
He is my light my strength
My song
This cornerstone
This solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought
And storm
What heights of love
What depths of peace
When fears are stilled
When strivings cease
My Comforter
My all in all
Here in the love of Christ
I stand
Gospel
LUKE 5:1–11
Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Jesus got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then Jesus sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!" For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people." When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

Stating Our Faith in God
BASED ON HEBREWS 11-12:2
Long ago witnesses wrote words to proclaim Jesus as the Treasured Light fulfilling the coming of the promised Messiah, that his light and grace were sufficient to the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Let us share our faith using these same words.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.
Treasured to go Down Deep
ISAIAH 6:1-8; 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-11; LUKE 5:1-11
`How's the weather?' `What's new?' `How's it going?' Most of us are pretty good at making small talk. Oh, we want to show our concern, our interest, but most of us like doing so while remaining on the surface. Going below the surface takes trust, confidence, on the part of everyone involved. Taking relationships to a deeper level is risky. What if the other person does not want to go along, down a little deeper? When it comes to our spiritual walk, how can we deepen our relationship with those we want to? How can we go with Jesus down into the depths of who we are? How could we possibly go as deep as Jesus is calling out to us? Today, we are given a new epiphany: To believe and to see the One who treasures us first, meets us again and again right where we are, every day; then he climbs in with us to take us deeper, to renew our commitment and devotion to him and those around us, to deepen and renew our faith in the One who believes in us! Let us forever trust the One who treasures us first, fills us to go deep; that’s where the catch is; to believe the true depth of God's light and grace!
1. Like the disciples, Jesus meets us on the surface; the One who treasures us knows where we are, then he invites us to go deep!
Luke 5:1-4, 1 Corinthians 15:3-6
A. Jesus met the disciples where they were. He invited them to go with him out into the deep water, and to lower their nets.
B. Jesus will meet us where we are, and go with us into deeper waters, too!
2. The One who treasures us first, will go with us into the depths of who we are, what matters most, what drives us, satisfies our souls!
Isaiah 6:5-7; Luke 5:8
A. Like the disciples, Jesus knows us, who he is climbing on board with. Jesus knows deepening a relationship is where some of the most, some of the best, is hiding.
B. Down deep, we can be honest with Christ about who we are.
3. Going deep is a high risk, high reward commitment. Going down deeper will not be easy. Going deep is often where the catch is!
Luke 5:5a
A. The One who treasures us first, knows where to find us, renews our commitment to go deep with him; that’s where the catch is!
B. We might have already worked pretty hard. Trust The Spirit will fill us to work even harder, to dig a little deeper still, to find deeper fulfillment, and to celebrate the deeper rewards; down deep is often where the catch is!
4. Trust the One who treasures you first, believes in you first, leads you to a deeper sense of faith. We might already have faith, yet we can trust even more!
Isaiah 6:8; 1 Corinthians 15:10-11; Luke 5:5
5. As we see Jesus come to us, as we listen to him, as we drop all that is shallow in our lives, The Spirit will grant us a new epiphany and fill us with all that gives deeper meaning and purpose. As Jesus gives us courage and faith to go deep, to put our nets and our hearts out and to go deep, to renew our commitment to make God and our neighbors first; we will be blessed to see, down deep is where the catch is, where Jesus catches us, where the One who treasures us first fills our nets, our hearts, with light and grace!
1 Corinthians 15:8; Luke 5:6-7,10

Song Anew in Light & Grace
Grace Alone
Nelson & Brown
Ev’ry promise we can make
Ev’ry prayer and step of faith
Ev’ry diff’rence we will make
Is only by His grace
Ev’ry mountain we will climb
Ev’ry ray of hope we shine
Ev’ry blessing left behind
Is only by His grace
Grace alone
Which God supplies
Strength unknown
He will provide
Christ in us
Our Cornerstone
We will go forth
In grace alone
We will go forth
In grace alone
... as we pray to you, Jesus,
Bless us with a new epiphany, in your treasured light and grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.
We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
