Caroling, caroling, near and far;
Christmas bells are ringing!
Following, following, yonder star;
Christmas bells are ringing!
Sing we all the happy morn,
"Lo, the King of heav'n is born!"
Ding, dong, ding, dong.
Christmas bells are ringing!

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
— Luke 1:47-49

When was the last time carolers surprised you at your door? When was the last time you went caroling? This year, the opportunity to carol is missing; is so sadly missed. The voice is a blessed gift. Using it is a gift. Listening to the voice of others blesses us as well.

Mary was blessed with the voice of the angel speaking to her. Mary used her voice then to magnify and bless the Lord. Believers have been blessed by Mary's voice for generations.

This year, let us not miss the much needed opportunity to make known, let us announce, let us carol, every chance we get. This will be a sign for you: Believe as Mary did, The Lord has looked with favor on you! Trust you, too, are blessed, thanks to The One who has done great things! As we go on our way each day, let us go caroling, near and far, and follow the yonder star, singing every happy morn, "Lo, the King of heaven is born," surprising others, as we magnify the Lord!

Let us pray: Today I magnify the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. As the Christmas bells ring out loud and clear, use my voice to sing out and to ring out, to make known and to announce, the joy and hope and promise of every sign of your grace. In your name I carol boldly and faithfully pray. Amen.
