Prepare the royal highway;
The King of kings is near!
Let ev'ry hill and valley,
A level road appear!
Then greet the King of glory,
Foretold in sacred story:
Hosanna, to the Lord,
For he fulfills God's Word!

As it is written in the prophet Isaiah, “See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way; the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’”
— Mark 1:2-3

Do you ever feel like it all depends on you? This time of year, the demands and the details are many. Everyone feels like more is expected of them. In those moments of extra stress, you might even feel like Christmas is up to you. 'If you do not do all that needs doing to get ready, to get prepared, who will?'

As believers, we hear during our Advent journey the call to 'prepare the way of the Lord.' One more thing to do. One more big thing, really big thing, to do. God is now counting on you, in addition to family, friends, and co-workers. How does one prepare the way of the Lord?

This week we will take a closer look at what we are getting ready for, and how we are getting ready for Jesus, but we will take an even closer look at how God is preparing us for Jesus, and the signs of grace God has made ready to ready us for the way of The Lord in our lives and hearts.

Think about this, pray about this, for this is not one more thing depending on you, rather, believe this will be a sign for you: God sent the prophets to prepare the way for The Messiah. God prepares the way for Jesus. God announces now is the time to prepare the royal highway, the King of kings is near! God's grace is ready, to make all things ready, to make us ready, for every sign has been made ready!

Let us pray: Almighty God, today I thank you that you are the One in charge. When I feel like so much depends on me, you show me all your grace has done and made ready. You prepare me to be ready for you, to be ready to proclaim you, to be ready to hear the prophets, to be ready for every sign of your grace made ready. By your Holy Spirit make me ready to be ready for you, for grace fulfills God's Word. In Jesus' name, I am being made ready, and I pray. Amen.
