Christmas time is here

“And the angel said to them, “Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ The Lord.””
Can you hear Charlie Brown asking his friend Linus that all important question in his search, "What is it all about? What is the true meaning of Christmas?" Can you hear Linus as he begins to explain to his friend, to quote these words from Luke?
Charlie Brown is not alone. The story of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is so popular because everyone can relate. Many who know the story are still searching for the true meaning of it all. Charlie Brown is not alone, he had Linus to help guide his way. We are not alone either, we have each other to point the way.
Can you hear the angels saying these words as recorded in Luke to the shepherds? Can you hear God announcing, crying out, proclaiming, invoking, promising these words to you? Christmas time is here, because God sent Jesus to be here, to repeat the sounding joy, today, tomorrow, and for all eternity! If you need a friend in these days of Advent to know the true meaning of Christmas, ask Emmanuel to send you an early present; and then trust God is likely sending you, too, to be like Linus, to be like the first angels, to be a friend, to announce and to proclaim the true meaning of it all: Christmas time is here, Christ The Lord is here!
Let us pray: Gracious God, I thank you that your voice is loud and clear at this time of year and all year long. In the midst of many voices that try to tell me what the meaning of Christmas is, send your angels and your voice to me again and again and again to assure me of the true meaning of Christmas, Christ with us. Give me faith and courage, Lord, that if you need me to, I will be able to repeat the sounding joy, to tell someone else of the Savior who is Christ the Lord. In truth, I pray. Amen.
