Of the Father’s Love Begotten

Prudentius & Davis

Of the Father's love begotten
Ere the world began to be
He is Alpha and Omega
He the source the ending he
Of the things that are that have been
And that future years shall see
Evermore and evermore

Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
— Matthew 24:44

This season is full of classics, old favorites. How does this one go?  Frosty the Snowman, was a fairy tale they say ... He'll come back again some day."

I think the beauty of some of the popularized stories this time of year, is seeing that when we begin with Christ and God's promise, even these stories can point beyond themselves to the Savior. Each week of Advent as is my tradition, as I have initiated here, today, I will take such a look at one of these favorite stories.

As believers in The Christ we know the joy of fairy tales, and we know the joy of truth, God's truth filled with tidings of comfort and joy in The Story. We are blessed with the joy of the promise of Who will come back again one day in God's time. For now we stand watch, so we do not miss it, and we live our lives trusting in the promise of that unexpected hour, trusting in the One who is the Father's love begotten, before the world began to be, of the One who is evermore and evermore!

Let us pray: God of eternal truth, I do not spend enough time digging into your story and your truth. I get caught up in the stories around me. Bless me again today and this Advent season in the tidings of comfort and joy in your Word. Your story is from eternity and for eternity. Truth is sure in the One who was and who will come again some day. Turn my heart and spirit to believe anew, evermore and evermore. Amen.
