For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God.
— 1 Peter 3:18

How do you react when other people do things for you, make decisions for you? I thought so. We usually like making our own decisions. We usually do not like to be a bother. We usually like being in control as to what is done, when it is done, how it is done. Liking to do things ourselves, makes being forgiven, being saved by Jesus, very difficult.

The continuing gift of Lent is making known, God does what we cannot do; God keeps our heart on The One who keeps his heart on us. The Holy Spirit continues to reveal to us what Peter discovered: The Righteous suffered for the unrighteous. God sent Jesus to do what we could never do, what we could never do for ourselves, on our own, by ourselves. God sent Jesus to bring us to God's self, to keep our heart on Christ alone, to hail King Jesus throughout eternity.

Let us pray: Jesus, I hail you King Jesus, King of kings, and Lord of lords, for I have been brought to you. Left on my own, I would never be able to be saved. I sing your praises, that the decision to suffer for me, was not my decision. I sing your praises, for going out of your way for my unrighteousness. I sing your praises, for you alone keep my heart on you, and you alone are in control of my salvation for all eternity. In Jesus' name, bring me to yourself once again, as I pray. Amen.
