Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he raised from the dead. ...Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”
— John 12:1,23

Have you ever tried to stand on one leg for 40 days? How about one full day? An hour? Five minutes?

Jesus knew it would not be long. Jesus announces for one and for all, the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified, for us to humble ourselves except in the glory of God, for us to know what we can stand on and what will stand up. The days of standing on one leg, of trying to support ourselves or to glorify ourselves in anything but Christ alone have come to an end.

What do you base your faith on? How solid is your faith? Where do you find glory? Can you stand on your faith for 40 days, two more weeks, a day, an hour, five minutes? An eternity? Who do you glorify, in your life, heart, church, this hour?In just six more days, we journey again through the week Christ took his stand for us. May we each be driven by the One who is driven and faithful, to hear Christ call out: 'Stand firm! You can do it! I'll stand right beside you!'

Let us pray: Jesus, I confess I often prefer to glorify myself, to stand on my own, to keep myself driven. By your Spirit, I see I cannot stand on that one leg very long, certainly not these last two weeks of Lent, certainly not a life time, certainly not for eternity. Keep your driven and faithful heart on me. Bless me by your grace alone, and I will glorify you this very hour in my life, heart and church. In your name I glorify you alone, as I pray. Amen.
