I Have Decided to Follow Jesus

Folk Melody From India

I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back
No turning back

“Why should it be said among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” Then the Lord became jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.
— Joel 2:17b-18

Turning points. Do you have some in your life?

Long ago, God used the prophet Joel to announce a turning point. Where people had been involved in one way of living, God used Joel to announce a change, a turning point. God used Joel to give notice of a new purpose to His people.

In doing so, God announces a turning point in God's way of doing things. God had made it clear, destruction was on the horizon. Joel asks God to consider again his gifts of grace and mercy. God has pity and showers His people with grace and hope.

Turning points. Discovering a new purpose. Do you believe thanks to Jesus, God's purpose in grace alone is to be at the center of such moments in time? Do you know, God in sending Jesus to die and rise, creates the biggest turning point, so we never turn back? In Jesus Christ, God reveals to us the new purpose of God's grace: The Lord would have pity, and never again would people ask, "Where is their God?"

Let us pray: Jesus, by your grace, continue to grant me and my spiritual life the turning points I need to make you and my neighbors first. Use your power for the purpose to turn me to you again, and to strengthen me by your Spirit so I never look back. May my newly discovered purpose be to forever honor you and glorify you, for your grace has turned my soul from certain destruction to promise and hope. In grace alone, I turn to you and never turn back, as I pray. Amen.
