“Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the people. Sanctify the congregation; assemble the aged; gather the children, even infants at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her canopy.”
Do you know what you are going to do today? Do you know what God is going to do today? Do you know what God is going to do to you, with you, for you, today?
Our peace is in this: Today is God's day! Lent is a journey that includes and invites us to confess and to admit we too often try to make each day our day, about what we need to do, about us. The grace of Lent, the grace of the cross, the grace of Christ is, this is the day, and our very lives, are what the Lord alone has made. God is The One blowing the trumpet, gathering us and sanctifying us, keeping our hearts on the grace of Christ alone!
Our peace is in this: This is the day the Lord has made. Today is far too important to what God has planned, for today, for eternity, to allow us to get in the way. Let us rejoice and be at peace, let us be glad, for this is the day The Lord has made in the grace of Jesus Christ!
Let us pray: Jesus, I trust anew, today is about you. Gather me, today, along with everyone you call unto yourself. Make known to me, what you are going to do to me, with me, and for me, today. This is your day, the day you have made, just like you made me. The peace you give me today may be a bit of a mystery, and yet, I feel you keeping my heart on you. By your grace alone, I am at peace, and I trust you! In your name, I pray and I rejoice. Amen.
