Thank you to the Farmington Ministerial Association for organizing today’s service!

vs 1
We gather together to ask
The Lord’s blessing
He chastens and hastens
His will to make known
The wicked oppressing
Now cease from distressing
Sing praises to his name
He forgets not his own

vs 3
We all do extol thee
Thou leader triumphant
And pray that thou
Still our defender wilt be
Let thy congregation
Escape tribulation
Thy name be ever praised
O Lord make us free

Tonight we celebrate, we give God all thanks and praise, for all good gifts around us, are sent from heaven above, so we gather together to worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. I give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart. I give thanks to you alone for your steadfast love and faithfulness.

People of God: Jesus knows our transgressions. Our sins are ever before him. On this festive night, let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and the times we have not given thanks and praise to the Lord’s majestic name.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ, trust the Lord’s majesty in every gift of grace in these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. Come, you thankful people, come; give thanks, God has created in us a clean heart, putting in us a new and right spirit.

vs 1
Come you thankful people come
Raise the song of harvest home
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin
God our maker does provide
For our wants to be supplied
Come to God’s own temple come
Raise the song of harvest home

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come into His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, we are His. Enter His gates with joy and thanksgiving and His courts with praise!

Joyful joyful we adore thee
God of glory Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before thee
Praising thee their sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the gloom of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day

Give thanks to the Lord, make known His deeds. Sing praises; make known every gift and blessing of God’s majesty and grace!

Announce and sing: Praise to the Lord the Almighty!

vs 1
Praise to the Lord the Almighty
The King of creation
O my soul praise him for
He is your health and salvation
Let all who hear
Now to his temple draw near
Joining in glad adoration

Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart in the congregation.

Great and majestic are the works of the Lord; The Lord’s beauty is through all the earth!

vs 1
For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Christ our Lord to you we raise
This our sacrifice of praise

Blessed be the name of the Lord, from this time on, from the rising of the sun to its setting, forevermore!

From generation to generation, we will give the Lord all our praise and thanksgiving!

vs 1
Praise and thanksgiving
Father we offer
For all things living
Created good
Harvest of sown fields
Fruits of the orchard
Hay from the mown fields
Blossom and wood

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song!

Pastor: Exalt his name! The Lord blesses you to be a blessing along with all the faithful! We are one in The Spirit! Blest be the tie that binds!

vs 1
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love
The unity of heart and mind
Is like to that above

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You set your glory above the heavens. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars and all you have established, who are we that you are mindful of us?

O give thanks to the Lord for he is good! Now thank we all our God!

vs 1
Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices
Who wondrous things has done
In whom his world rejoices
Who from our mothers’ arms
Has blest us on our way
With countless gifts of love
And still is ours today

Loving God, you bless us daily with your steadfast love. You alone grace us; you alone, rule, create, sustain, call, empower, bless and save. As we gather together, as we see anew the beauty of the earth, as we go into the world, as we call on the wonder, awe, and hope, we have in community, we give you all thanks and praise for all good gifts around us, are sent from heaven above. With thankful hearts, in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

(New Revised Standard Version)

God has blessed God’s people with the gift of faith from the beginning of time. Long ago witnesses proclaimed the blessings of Jesus’ grace were sufficient to the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Let us give thanks and boldly share our faith tonight using these same words.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whomever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.

Of the day you bring
Let the fires of your justice burn

Fill your dreams with sweet tomorrows
Never mind what might have been
May the good Lord bless and keep you

For God and for all
His grace did invite us
His love shall unite us
To work for God’s kingdom
And answer his call
