Litany Giving Thanks for God’s Faithfulness in Grace
based on Psalm 34
Today, all giving God, we trust anew, your timing is perfect; your Holy Spirit is so welcome here; we give you thanks, for your faithfulness and saving grace in Jesus Christ, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. I will bless the name of my God and King forever and ever. Every day, in every way, I bless you and praise your name.
People of God: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to put our trust in God’s glory and grace showered on us in God’s timing.
(silence for reflection)
Friends in Christ, God’s timing is perfect in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. The Lord is good to all! His compassion has made you new and clean. Be still; give thanks and praise! The Holy One is here!
Song Anew In Grace
Be Still
Evans
vs. 1
Be still for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here
Come bow before Him now
With reverence and fear
In Him no sin is found
We stand on holy ground
Be still for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here
Let us be still, and be ready, to proclaim the Lord’s awesome deeds, and to declare his glory and grace wherever we go. Let us celebrate being made new, as we sing of God’s righteousness.
Friends in Christ: One generation shall pass on the Lord's works to another. In God’s timing, be still, declare The Lord’s splendor and majesty, look for Christ himself, be ready for the power of the Lord is moving in this place!
Song Anew In Grace
Be Still
Evans
vs. 3
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place
He comes to cleanse and heal
To minister His grace
No work too hard for Him
In faith receive from Him
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place
Loving God, today we thank you, for you do all the giving. You bless us with every good gift, sent from heaven above. By your Holy Spirit, be present here, keep us strong and ready to see you, to answer you, to call on you, to trust your timing is perfect, to forever give you thanks and praise. As you tend to every detail in our lives, for the life you promise still to come, we trust your timing, and your grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Old Testament Lesson
Malachi 4:1-2a
See, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.
(New Revised Standard Version)
New Testament Lesson
2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, and we did not eat anyone’s bread without paying for it; but with toil and labor we worked night and day, so that we might not burden any of you. This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat. For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work. Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.

Song of Thanks & Praise
Come You Thankful People, Come
Alford
vs. 1
Come you thankful people come
Raise the song of harvest home
All is safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin
God our maker does provide
For our wants to be supplied
Come to God’s own temple come
Raise the song of harvest home
vs. 2
All the world is God’s own field
Fruit unto his praise to yield
Wheat and tares together sown
Unto joy or sorrow grown
First the blade and then the ear
Then the full corn shall appear
Lord of harvest grant that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be
vs. 4
Even so Lord quickly come
To your final harvest home
Gather all your people in
Free from sorrow free from sin
There forever purified
In your garner to abide
Come with all your angels come
Raise the glorious harvest home
Gospel
Luke 21:5-19
When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, Jesus said, “As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.” Then they asked him, “Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?” And Jesus said, “Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is near!’ Do not go after them. When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.” Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven. But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will give you an opportunity to testify. So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your souls.
(New Revised Standard Version)
God has blessed God’s people to be a blessing, with faith from the beginning of time. Long ago witnesses boldly proclaimed the blessing of Jesus’ grace was sufficient to the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Today, we boldly share our faith, using these same words.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whomever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.
Blessed in God’s Time
MALACHI 4:1-2A; 2 THESSALONIANS 3:6-13; LUKE 21:5-19
Do you ever think it would be nice to have more time? Do you wish you could control time? Are you ever thankful or at peace that God is the One who controls time; or are you only anxious? Are you able to move from wanting to know everything there is to know about the future, to trusting the future is in God’s hands? Time is of great value to us. Today, as Jesus talks about the future and the end times, we give God thanks and praise, for we are graced and blessed in God’s time!
1. What time is it? We like knowing what time it is.
Luke 21:5-12
A. Children, children of this world, like keeping track of time.
B. Children, children of God, know Who is keeping track of time.
2. Why do we worry so much about time?
Malachi 4:1-2a
A. We like to plan, yet much happens we could never plan for!
B. God’s time line reminds us Who is in control. Only God knew when God would create, when God would send Jesus, when God would save the world; God knows when Christ will return.
3. There is only so much time. Time is so precious.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
A. We try not to waste any time.
B. With thanks and praise, God gives us the time God gives us.
4. Time heals all. God in God’s time heals all.
Malachi 4:2a; Luke 21:6
A. Time helps, depending upon ...
B. God is the One who heals, beating every unknown!
C. We can only imagine what God has yet to reveal in God’s time!
5. In this season of Thanksgiving, let us give God thanks and praise, for God in Jesus blesses us, giving us eternity, filling us with grace now, and in God’s time still to come!
Luke 21:13-19
Today’s message includes a reference to “The Chinese Bamboo” an uplifting Rosh Hashana tale.

Song of Praise & Grace Anew
Lord, I need You
Maher
vs. 1
Lord I come
I confess
Bowing here
I find my rest
Without You
I fall apart
You’re the one
That guides my heart
refrain:
Lord I need You oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
vs. 2
Where sin runs deep
Your grace is more
Where grace is found
Is where You are
And where You are
Lord I am free
Holiness
Is Christ in me
(refrain)
You’re my one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
... As we pray to you, Jesus,
We give you thanks and praise, for your blessings and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
The Words of Institution
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
Songs During Holy Communion
Shout to the Lord
Zschech
vs. 1
Even though I walk
Through the valley
Of the shadow of death
Your perfect love
Is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught
In the middle
Of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near
refrain:
And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear
Whom then shall I fear
Oh no You never let go
Through the calm
And through the storm
Oh no You never let go
In ev’ry high
And ev’ry low
Oh no You never let go
Lord You never let go of me
vs. 2
And I can see a light
That is coming
For the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end
To these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know
You here on the earth
(refrain)
bridge:
Yes I can see a light
That is coming
For the heart that holds on
And there will be an end
To these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You
Still I will praise You
(repeat)
Oh no You never let go
Through the calm
And through the storm
Oh no You never let go
In ev’ry high
And ev’ry low
Oh no You never let go
Lord You never let go of me
(repeat)
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you give all thanks and praise for God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!

Old Church Choir
Williams
vs. 1
There’s revival
And it’s spreading
Like a wildfire in my heart
A Sunday morning
Hallelujah
And it’s lasting all week long
Can you hear it
Can you feel it
It’s the rhythm of a gospel song
Oh once you choose it
You can’t lose it
‘Cause there ain’t nothing
There ain’t nothing
Gonna steal my joy
refrain:
I’ve got an old church choir
Singing in my soul
I’ve got a sweet salvation
And it’s beautiful
I’ve got a heart overflowing
‘Cause I’ve been restored
There ain’t nothing
Gonna steal my joy
No there ain’t nothing
Gonna steal my joy
vs. 2
When the valleys
That I wander
Turn to mountains
That I can’t climb
Oh You are with me
Never leave me
‘Cause there ain’t nothing
There ain’t nothing
Gonna steal my joy
(refrain)
bridge:
Clap your hands
And stomp your feet
‘til you find that gospel beat
‘Cause He’s all
You’ll ever need
All you’ll ever need
(repeat)
I’ve got an old church choir
Singing in my soul
I’ve got a sweet salvation
And it’s beautiful
(refrain)
Oh there ain’t nothing
Gonna steal my joy
