Litany Giving Thanks for God’s Faithfulness in Grace
based on Psalm 34
Today we give God all thanks and praise; we remember, celebrate and follow anew Christ our King; we fall down, and we cry holy; so, we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. O, come let us sing to the Lord; Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, to sing songs of honor and glory and praise!
People of God: In his hands are the depths of the sea; the heights of the hills are also his. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to remember, to trust the power and grace of Christ our King.
(silence for reflection)
All creatures of our God and King: Receive with faith and thanksgiving, the grace of the One who reigns: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Forever remember The King who forever remembers you; our great God, is a great King above all gods!

O come, let us worship and bow down before our King. Let us renew our commitment and our trust. We are created anew in glory and grace! Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker!
Friends in Christ: He is our God, and a great King; we are the people of his pasture, the sheep of his hand. We are so blessed, to live in The Kingdom, to hear his call; oh, praise Him!

Loving God, today we remember you, our faithful King, forever remembers us, providing us with every good gift sent from heaven above. Guard and watch over us; restore your Kingdom. Today we give you thanks and praise for your Son, the King of all creation. Grant that we and all the people of the earth who are divided by sin, may be united in the One crowned with many crowns, who forever reigns in majesty. Send your Holy Spirit, and renew us in your light and grace. In Christ The King, we trust and we pray. Amen.
Old Testament Lesson
Jeremiah 23:1-6
Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the Lord. Therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who shepherd my people: It is you who have scattered my flock, and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. So I will attend to you for your evil doings, says the Lord. Then I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the lands where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. I will raise up shepherds over them who will shepherd them, and they shall not fear any longer, or be dismayed, nor shall any be missing, says the Lord. The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. And this is the name by which he will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.”

New Testament Lesson
Colossians 1:11-20
May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers – all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

Gospel
Luke 23:33-43
When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with two criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing. And the people stood by, watching; but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one!” The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.” One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus replied, “Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
God has blessed God’s people to be a blessing, with faith from the beginning of time. Long ago witnesses boldly proclaimed the blessing of Jesus’ grace was sufficient to the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Today, we boldly share our faith, using these same words.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whomever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.
A King to Remember
JEREMIAH 23:1-6; COLOSSIANS 1:11-20; LUKE 23:33-43
How is your memory? What kinds of things do you remember? What do you remember best? What kinds of things do you wish you could remember better? We all have things more difficult to remember than others. So why is it that some people have really good memories, and others need to work at it more? While some people may be blessed with "photographic" type memories, most people need to work at it. Some people come up with gadgets, techniques, practice tips or they make lists. Today, as we celebrate Christ The King Sunday, as we give thanks and praise, we remember Jesus is our King. We lift up our King who knows our sins, forgives us, and remembers our sins no more. We celebrate our King remembers us. We trust our King came to serve us, to remember us forever. With praise and thanksgiving, let us thankfully receive all our King brings, and promises, and does, and provides; and let us remember The King, our King, who remembers us forever!
1. How is your memory?
Colossians 1:16-18; Luke 23:35, 37, 39
A. What kinds of things do you remember?
B. What do you easily forget?
C. How are you at remembering The King?
2. What helps you remember things?
Colossians 1:11-12
A. Toys, gadgets, techniques?
B. Time, experience, more encounters, reflection, writing things down, memory replay, etc.?
C. What helps you to remember The King?
3. Trust by grace, you are blessed to remember the blessings of the Kingdom. `Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’
Colossians1:13; Luke 23:42-43
A. Trust and remember, the Kingdom comes without our praying for it, but we pray for it to come and take first place in our lives!
B. Trust and remember, to pray for ourselves to know more about God’s Kingdom than the kingdom of the world around us!
C. Trust and remember, the Kingdom is not about you - and yet, at the same time, it is all about you! You are a unique, special, treasure to the Kingdom, yet, not the only one!
D. Trust and remember, the differences between the kingdoms of this world and God’s Kingdom! The Kingdom is not about you, about that which is self serving. The Kingdom is about all God remembers, God’s way, God’s grace, God’s people, you!
4. The memory of Christ The King is best! Give thanks and praise, trust, celebrate and never ever forget, The King remembers you forever!
Jeremiah 23:3-5, Luke 23:34, 42-43
A. Even if we cannot always remember The King, The King remembers us.
B. The King remembers our sins, and then chooses to remember our sins no more.
C. Give thanks and praise, trust and celebrate, we are blessed with grace upon grace; The King remembers us, and The King never, ever forgets!

Song of Praise & Grace Anew
Lord, Reign In Me
Brown
vs. 1
Over all the earth
You reign on high
Ev’ry mountain stream
Ev’ry sunset sky
But my one request
Lord my only aim
Is that You’d reign in me
Again
refrain:
Lord reign in me
Reign in Your pow’r
Over all my dreams
In my darkest hour
You are the Lord
Of all I am
So won’t you reign in me
Again
vs. 2
Over ev’ry thought
Over ev’ry word
May my life reflect
The beauty of my Lord
‘Cause You mean more to me
Than any earthly thing
So won’t You reign in me
Again
(refrain twice)
Won’t You reign in me again
Won’t You reign in me again
... As we pray to you, Jesus,
We give all thanks and praise to you, Christ The King.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.
The Words of Institution
In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
Songs During Holy Communion
Crown Him (Majesty)
Zschech
vs. 1
Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake my soul and sing
Of Him who died for me
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity
refrain:
Majesty
Lord of all
Let ev’ry throne
Before Him fall
The King of kings
O come adore
Our God who reigns
Forevermore
vs. 2
Crown Him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o’er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die
(refrain)
Forevermore
All Hail Redeemer Hail
For He has died for me
His praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity
All Hail Redeemer Hail
For He has died for me
His praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity
(refrain 2x)
Praise God who reigns
Forevermore
You’re the God who reigns
Forevermore
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace; as you give thanks and praise, for you are blessed to be a blessing in the saving grace of Christ our King. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
