Gathering In Spirit & Grace

Here I Am to Worship

Hughes

Light of the World
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with you

refrain:
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Up on that cross
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Up on that cross

(refrain)

Litany Celebrating God’s Faithfulness In Each Breath

based on Psalm 25

Today, we are blessed anew to be laborers, we know the harvest is plentiful, so let us take a breath and trust help is here in God’s grace, so here we are to worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. I put my trust in you and follow you, because though I am a sinner and make mistakes, you will not let me be put to shame.

People of God: Those who wait upon the Lord will not be put to shame; they will be set free. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we fail to be God’s faithful laborers or to make God and our neighbors first.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: Today, the love of Jesus is again revealed to you. Take a breath in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you of all your sins. Let us believe anew, and be his faithful laborers! Glory, glory, hallelujah! God’s truth and grace are marching on!

Song Renewed in Grace

Battle Hymn of the Republic

Howe

Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
His truth is marching on

I love you, Lord. You are the God of my salvation! Help and hope are here every day! Today, I will take a fresh breath in grace; for you and your mercy and your steadfast love, I will wait all the day long.

Friends, The Lord’s paths are filled with forgiveness, steadfast love, and faithfulness. The Lord’s covenant is firm; He does not abandon us. Live anew! His harvest includes you! Glory, glory, hallelujah! God’s truth and grace march on for one and all!

Song Renewed in Grace

Battle Hymn of the Republic

Howe

Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
His truth is marching on

Loving God, in a world where it is easy to make mistakes about who we are, and about what to do, let us make no mistake when it comes to laboring for you and making you and our neighbors first once again. Breathe on us in grace to be your faithful laborers, to trust the harvest you alone provide.  Help us take a deep breath, give us even more help and hope right here, right now, and we will go and touch the world with your love, to make your grace known. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Gospel

Luke 10:1-11, 16-20

After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you. Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the laborer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you; cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off in protest against you. Yet know this: the kingdom of God has come near.’” .... “Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, in your name even the demons submit to us!” He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning. See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

As we hear God’s Word, let us take a fresh breath, and boldly speak of all we believe, trusting God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ.

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.

Take a Breath…Help is Here!

ISAIAH 66:10-14; GALATIANS 6:7-16; LUKE 10:1-11, 16-20

Do you enjoy your work?  Most people pursue a career that is of interest to them.  Most people have goals, aspirations, and dreams - and their work involves doing their best, and to get even more accomplished.  `Work' and `labor' by definition imply something may not be easy.  When it comes to our spiritual journey, Jesus tells us about working for the kingdom.  `The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.'  Today we hear our call to go to work for the Gospel.  Is it of interest to you?  Do your goals, aspirations and dreams include Jesus?  What is he asking you to accomplish?  Will it be easy?  Trust as Jesus calls you, Jesus has prepared the harvest.  Take a deep breath, help is here, hope is here!  The harvest is incomplete without Jesus’ labor of love; the Kingdom is near; you are part of God’s blessed and eternal harvest!

1. `The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few.'' We are called to give a lot of help here!
Luke 10:2

A. What do `work' and `labor' mean to you?  It may not be easy!
Galatians 6:8; Luke 10:3

i. Work is meant to be productive, to make a difference.

ii. Work is best when it is efficient, when it is not wasted.

B. We are called to go to work; to pass it on; to carry the light!
Galatians 6:10; Luke 10:20

C. Extra hands truly make the work that much easier, as we each pass it on, as we each carry the light!
Luke 10:9-11

It only takes a spark
To get a fire going
And soon all those around
Can warm up in its glowing
That’s how it is with God’s love
Once you’ve experienced it
You spread His love to everyone
You want to pass it on

I’ll shout it from the mountaintops
I want my world to know
The Lord of love has come to me
I want to pass it on

In this world of darkness
We are given light
Hope for all the dying
How will they know
How will they know
That Jesus loves them
And He died to save them

Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and tell the children
They are precious in His sight
Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and preach the gospel
‘Til there is no more night
In the name of Jesus Christ
Carry the Light

Carry the Light

D. For much of the work we do, we learn on the job, no previous experience required, who we work with matters, loving what we do is best.
Isaiah 66:13-14; Galatians 6:14; Luke 10:4-11,20

i. The Kingdom of God has come near, reassuring us, the One who has done all the work to one day come and carry us home, comes near to us each and every day!

ii. Sadly, sometimes, even in our desire to be faithful to our calling and service, we can stray from the love and grace of The One Tin Soldier.

iii. Let there be peace on earth, let The One who is Peace, stir up works of peace in us; having peace begin right here!

refrain:
Swing low sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low Sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home

vs. 1
I looked over Jordan and what did I see
Coming for to carry me home
A band of angels coming after me
Coming for to carry me home

(refrain)

vs. 2
If you get there before I do
Coming for to carry me home
Tell all my friends I’m coming too
Coming for to carry me home

(refrain)

Listen children to a story
That was written long ago
‘Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone
And the valley-people swore
They’d have it for their very own

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure
Tons of gold for which they’d kill
Came an answer from the mountain
“With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain
All the riches buried there”

Now the valley cried with anger
“Mount your horses
Draw your swords”
And they killed the mountain people
So they won their just reward
Now they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it
“Peace on Earth” was all it said

(refrain)

refrain:
Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won’t be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after
One Tin Soldier rides away

vs 1
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father
Family all are we
Let me walk with my neighbors
In perfect harmony

To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me

2. Take a deep breath...Help is here, hope is here! May the cry of our heart, be to trust anew, each of us are part of the harvest - thanks to The One who has labored for us, secured our place in the harvest! The Kingdom is near! Thanks be to God, you are the cry of His heart; and God is forever building His Kingdom right here!
Luke 10:2,9,11

refrain:
It is the cry of my heart to follow You
It is the cry of my heart to be close to You
It is the cry of my heart to follow
All of the days of my life

vs. 1
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
So I can walk in Your truth
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
And make me wholly devoted to You

(refrain twice)

All of the days of my life
All of the days of my life

vs. 1
Come set Your rule and reign
In our hearts again
Increase in us we pray
Unveil why we’re made
Come set our hearts ablaze with hope
Like wildfire in our very souls
Holy Spirit come invade us now
We are Your church
We need Your pow’r in us

vs. 2
We seek Your kingdom first
We hunger and we thirst
Refuse to waste our lives
For You’re our joy and prize
To see the captives’ hearts released
The hurt the sick the poor at peace
We lay down our lives for heaven’s cause
We are Your church
We pray revive this earth

refrain:
Build Your kingdom here
Let the darkness fear
Show Your mighty hand
Heal our streets and land
Set Your church on fire
Win this nation back
Change the atmosphere
Build Your kingdom here we pray

vs. 3
Unleash Your kingdom’s pow’r
Reaching the near and far
No force of hell can stop Your beauty
Changing hearts
You made us for much more than this
Awake the kingdom seed in us
Fill us with the strength and love of Christ
We are Your church
We are the hope on earth

(refrain)

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.

The Words of Institution

In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Song During Holy Communion

Here I Am Lord

Schutte

I the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save
I who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them
Whom shall I send

refrain:
Here I am Lord
Is it I Lord
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go Lord
If you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

I the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people’s pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away
I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone
I will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send

(refrain)

I the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide
‘Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send

(refrain)

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you take each breath, each deep fresh breath, in the living grace of Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
