Opening Song in Grace & Spirit

Hear Our Praises

Morgan

vs. 1
May our homes be filled with dancing
May our streets be filled with joy
May injustice bow to Jesus
As the people turn to pray

refrain:
From the mountains
To the valleys
Hear our praises
Rise to You
From the heavens
To the nations
Hear our singing
Fill the air

vs. 2
May Your light shine in the darkness
As we walk before the cross
May Your glory fill the whole earth
As the water o’er seas

(refrain)

Litany Celebrating Gentle Breezes In God’s Faithfulness & Grace

Based on Psalm 66

Today we celebrate, from the mountains, to the valleys, we feel the gentle breeze of God’s grace, making us whole, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing glory to his name; give to him glorious praise! God, how awesome are your deeds, making us whole once again!

People of God: Come, see what God has done. Come, hear, every miracle, God is still doing. God’s touch is powerful. He alone has turned death into life. Let us take a moment of silence to trust anew God’s loving power, and to confess those times we have not trusted God’s healing grace.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: Feel anew, the gentle breeze of God’s grace has made you whole once again; Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Trust and rejoice; be still, for the Holy One is here!

Song of Assuring Presence

Be Still

Evans

vs. 1
Be still for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here
Come bow before Him now
With reverence and fear
In Him no sin is found
We stand on holy ground
Be still for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here

Bless our God, all people, everywhere. Let the sound of his praise be heard. For God has kept us among the living, and he has not let our feet slip, that we might fall.

Friends in faith: God’s goodness and grace makes us whole, working miracles of every kind. Feel his life-giving water, feel the gentle breeze of God’s grace. Rejoice, sing, live anew: Be still, for the power of the Lord, is moving in this and every place!

Song of Assuring Presence

Be Still

Evans

vs. 3
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place
He comes to cleanse and heal
To minister His grace
No work too hard for Him
In faith receive from Him
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place

Loving God, today, by your Spirit, let us feel the gentle breeze of your grace and your healing touch, making us whole in new ways. Restore us, renew us, raise us up, save us, keep us strong, and give us hope. Keep coming closer and closer to us. Precious Lord, take our hand, and keep touching our hearts and lives, again and again. In Jesus’ name alone, we pray. Amen.

Old Testament Lesson

Hosea 5:15-6:5

I will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face. In their distress they will beg my favor: “Come, let us return to the Lord; for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord; his appearing is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us like the showers, like the spring rains that water the earth.” What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning, like the dew that goes away early. Therefore, I have hewn them by the prophets, I have killed them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment goes forth as the light. For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

New Testament Lesson

Romans 4:13-25

For the promise that he would inherit the world did not come to Abraham or to his descendants through the law but through the righteousness of faith. If it is the adherents of the law who are to be heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there violation. For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us, as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”) – in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. Hoping against hope, he believed that he would become “the father of many nations,” according to what was said, “So numerous shall their descendants be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. Therefore, his faith, “was reckoned to him as righteousness.” Now the words, “it was reckoned to him,” were written not for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was handed over to death for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.

Song Anew In Hope & Grace

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Dorsey

vs. 1
Precious Lord take my hand
Lead me on let me stand
I am tired I am weak
I am worn
Through the storm through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 2
When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life
Is almost gone
Hear my cry hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 3
When the darkness appears
And the night draws near
And the day is past
And gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Gospel

Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, “Follow me,” And he got up and followed him. And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard this, Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician; but those who are sick. Go learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.” … While he was saying these things to them, suddenly a leader of the synagogue came and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples. Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her, he said, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. When Jesus came to the leader’s house, and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, “Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. And the report of this spread throughout the district.

The Nicene Creed

As we share gentle breezes of The Spirit this summer, let us share our faith and speak boldly of all we believe, trusting the living breath of The Spirit and God’s saving grace.

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.

Song of Hope & Grace Anew

Lord, I Need You

Maher

vs. 1
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart

refrain:
Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You

vs. 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

(refrain)

You’re my one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Let us feel the gentle breeze of your Spirit and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

It Is Well With My Soul

Spafford & Bliss

vs. 1
When peace like a river
Attendeth my way
When sorrows
Like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot
Thou hast taught me to say
It is well It is well
With my soul

refrain:
It is well
(It is well)
With my soul
(With my soul)
It is well
It is well
With my soul

vs. 3
My sin – O the bliss
Of this glorious thought
My sin – not in part
But the whole
Is nailed to the cross
And I bear it no more
Praise the Lord Praise the Lord
O my soul

(refrain)

vs. 4
And Lord haste the day
When my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back
As a scroll
The trumpet shall sound
And the Lord shall descend
Even so – it is well
With my soul
  (refrain)

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the gentle breeze of The Spirit and God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, blessed to be God’s people and God’s Church, together serving The Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
