Litany Trusting God’s Faithfulness & Grace In Every Gentle Breeze

Based on Psalm 25

Today we celebrate, we trust anew, better than a summer breeze, God lifts our burdens, yokes us to real power, and gives us real rest in God’s grace, so we lay our burdens down, and we worship in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen. To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. I put my trust in you and follow you because though I am a sinner, I can rest, because you will not let me be put to shame.

People of God: Those who wait upon the Lord will not be put to shame, but they will find rest, renew their strength, and be set free. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to find our rest is in grace alone.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ, feel the gentle breeze of real rest, feel God yoke you to the grace of these words: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Come, find rest! Come, be restored! Come, just as you are!

Song of Renewal In Grace

Just as I Am

Elliot & Bradbury

vs. 1
Just as I am without one plea
But that thy blood was shed for me
And that thou bidd’st me come to thee
O Lamb of God I come I come

I love you, Lord. Lead me in your truth, teach me your paths, give me rest, real rest. You are the God of my salvation and for you I will wait all the day long. I thank you for I am yoked to you forever in your power, mercy and your steadfast love.

Friends, God yokes us to his steadfast love and mercy. Even when people and doubts pressure us, the Lord never tires. Come, seek the Lord while he may be found; come, to the One who comes to you first; come, in the midst of your every burden; come, rest, just as you are!!

Song of Renewal In Grace

Just as I Am

Elliot & Bradbury

vs. 5
Just as I am thou wilt receive
Wilt welcome pardon cleanse relieve
Because thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God I come I come

Almighty and loving God, help us today to make you and our neighbors first in our lives once again. Renew our faith and stir us up with your Holy Spirit. In the midst of our demands and details, worries and concerns, through the gentle breeze of your grace, give us rest, real rest, yoke our burdens to you, your power and your peace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Old Testament Lesson

Zechariah 9:9-12

Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

(New Revised Standard Version)

New Testament Lesson

Romans 7:15-25a

I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song of Hope & Grace Anew

Lord, I Need You

Maher

vs. 1
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart

refrain:
Lord I need You oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

vs. 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

(refrain)

You’re my one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

Gospel

Matthew 11:25-30

At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

based on Psalm 89

As we share gentle breezes of The Spirit this summer, let us share our faith and speak boldly of all we believe, trusting the living breath of The Spirit and God’s saving grace.

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.

Song of Hope & Peace Anew

It Is Well With My Soul

Spafford & Bliss

vs. 1
When peace like a river
Attendeth my way
When sorrows
Like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot
Thou hast taught me to say
It is well it is well
With my soul

refrain:
It is well
With my soul
It is well
It is well
With my soul

vs. 4
And Lord haste the day
When my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back
As a scroll
The trumpet shall sound
And the Lord shall descend
Even so – it is well
With my soul

(refrain)

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Let us feel the gentle breeze of your Spirit and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

My Country, ‘Tis of Thee

Smith

vs. 1
My country ‘tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty
Of thee I sing
Land where my fathers died
Land of the pilgrims’ pride
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring

vs. 2
My native country thee
Land of the noble free
Thy name I love
I love thy rocks and rills
Thy woods and templed hills
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above

vs. 3
Let music swell the breeze
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom’s song
Let mortal tongues awake
Let all that breathe partake
Let rocks their silence break
The sound prolong

vs. 4
Our fathers’ God to thee
Author of liberty
To thee we sing
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light
Protect us by thy might
Great God our King

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the gentle breeze of The Spirit and God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, blessed to be God’s people and God’s Church, together serving The Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
