Litany Trusting The Gentle Breeze of The Spirit and God’s Grace
Based on Psalm 25
Today we trust the gentle breeze of God’s grace brings forth calm and assurance in the midst of our fears, so we come, for now is the time to worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. I put my trust in you and follow you because though I am a sinner, though I lose my way and make mistakes, you do not let me be put to shame.
People of God: Those who wait upon the Lord will not be put to shame; they will be set free. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have been too afraid to trust God’s faithfulness and to make God and neighbor first.
(silence for reflection)
People of faith and hope: Feel the gentle breeze of God’s grace revealed again in these words to quiet your every fear; Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. The Lord renews you and teaches you His ways. Go anew today in calm and hope; and fear not!

Fear not
For I am with you
Fear not
For I am with you
Fear not
For I am with you
Says the Lord
Fear not
For I am with you
Fear not
For I am with you
Fear not
For I am with you
Says the Lord
(repeat)
I do love you, Lord. You calm me and reassure me. Renew me in your paths. You alone are the God of my salvation. For you, your mercy, and your steadfast love, I will wait all the day long.
Friends of Jesus: The Lord’s covenant stands firm. We have nothing to fear, Jesus is with us. When you feel torn down, broken, lost, in despair, trust Jesus calms you, quieting you, your every worry. Go anew today in calm and hope; and fear not!

Loving God, stir us up in faith anew today, to trust alone in your grace. When we feel afraid, alone, ashamed, guilty, or worried about all that we endure, calm us and assure us once again. By the gentle breeze of your Spirit, keep your eye on the sparrows and on each of us, and we will fear nothing, believing you are forever with us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Old Testament Lesson
Jeremiah 20:7-13
O Lord, you have enticed me, and I was enticed; you have overpowered me, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; everyone mocks me. For whenever I speak, I must cry out, I must shout, “Violence and destruction!” For the word of the Lord has become for me a reproach and derision all day long. If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” then within me there is something like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot. For I hear many whispering: “Terror is all around! Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” All my close friends are watching for me to stumble. “Perhaps he can be enticed, and we can prevail against him, and take our revenge on him.” But the Lord is with me like a dread warrior; therefore, my persecutors will stumble, and they will not prevail. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten. O Lord of hosts, you test the righteous, you see the heart and the mind; let me see your retribution upon them, for to you I have committed my cause. Sing to the Lord; praise the Lord! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hands of evildoers.

New Testament Lesson
Romans 6:1b-11
Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For whoever has died is freed from sin. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. The death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Song Of Hope & Assurance
His Eye Is On the Sparrow
Martin & Gabriel
vs. 1
Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav’n and home
When Jesus is my portion
My constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
refrain:
I sing because I’m happy
I sing because I’m free
For his eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
vs. 2
Let not your heart be troubled
His tender word I hear
And resting on his goodness
I lose my doubts and fears
Though by the path he leads me
But one step I may see
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
(refrain)
vs. 3
Whenever I am tempted
Whenever clouds arise
When song gives place to sighing
When hope within me dies
I draw the closer to him
From care he sets me free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
(refrain)
Gospel
Matthew 10:24-39
“A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above the master; it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the servant like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household! “So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. “Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven. “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
(New Revised Standard Version)
based on Psalm 89
As we share gentle breezes of The Spirit this summer, let us share our faith and speak boldly of all we believe, trusting the living breath of The Spirit and God’s saving grace.
I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.
A Gentle Breeze, Overcoming Every Fear
JEREMIAH 20:7-13; ROMANS 6:1b-11; MATTHEW 10:24-39
What are you the most afraid of? From early on in life, we want to overcome it all. And yet, deep down, we all have things that make us afraid. For many of us, what starts as a simple fear of the dark, turns into fears of the unknown, loneliness, brokenness, insecurity, rejection, pain and suffering, and the darkness of death. In our faith journey, the darkness can be just as real. Even knowing and trusting Jesus as the Light of The World, we have fears. `Am I really forgiven?' `Will I have a place in heaven?' `Will people reject me because of my faith?' Today, we are invited to bring our fears once again to the One who brings light, peace, calm, assurance, courage, hope. As we share the gentle breezes of summer, let us feel the breath of God in our midst, let us believe anew the One who remembers us forever; and as we trust again the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, let us, "Be not afraid."
1. From early on in life, we try to overcome our fears. Even though we are believers, we still have many fears. What are you afraid of?
Romans 6:3-4; Matthew 10:26-28; 32-39
A. Even though you are a believer, what are you afraid of in life?
B. Even though you are a believer, what are you afraid of in your spiritual life?
i. Why are we afraid to announce what has been hidden?
ii. Why is it so scary to uncover what has been covered?
iii. Why are we afraid to say in the light what we trust in the dark?
2. Where do you turn when you are most afraid? Are you able to overcome your fears on your own? Or could you benefit from some help and assurance and power from above? Do you know and trust the power in your midst?
Jeremiah 20:7,9,11; Romans 6:9-11; Matthew 10:29-31,33-37
A. One of the reasons the dark is so scary, is because we feel alone. Trying to overcome our fears by ourselves is lonely. When even one person knows what we are going through, there is more light and more hope.
B. Do you believe in the One who continues to cast out fear?
1 John 4:18-19; Luke 2:10-11; Matthew 28:5-10
C. Do you know who is with you always? Do you believe the One who watches over the sparrows, knows the hairs on your head, keeps you strong, comforts you, holds you close, surrounds you, carries you, graces you, gives you peace?
3. What are you afraid of? As we share the gentle breezes of summer, let us feel the breath of God, let us believe anew the One who remembers us forever, The Spirit of God, is blowing in our midst and will overcome all that overwhelms us: Be not afraid!
Jeremiah 20:7,11; Romans. 6:5; Matthew 10:31,39

Song of Hope Anew
Be Not Afraid
Dufford
vs. 1
You shall cross the barren desert
But you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety
Though you do not know the way
You shall speak your words in foreign lands
And all will understand
You shall see the face of God
And live
refrain:
Be not afraid
I go before you always
Come follow me
And I will give you rest
vs. 2
If you pass through raging waters
In the sea you shall not drown
If you walk amid the burning flames
You shall not be harmed
If you stand before the pow’r of hell
And death is at your side
Know that I am with you
Through it all
(refrain)
Our Worship continues as we move outside to the memorial Garden
As God’s people, as we feel the gentle breeze of God’s grace, let us trust anew in God’s power and presence, and let us pray for the needs of all God’s people.
...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
The Spirit intercedes for us
With sighs too deep
For words to express
Oh oh oh
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.
We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
Songs During Holy Communion
In the Garden
Miles
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
refrain:
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share
As we tarry there
None other has ever known
He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing
(refrain)
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling
But He bids me go thru the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling
(ref)
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the gentle breeze of The Spirit and God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, blessed to be God’s people and God’s Church, together serving The Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!

Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
Founds
Lord I lift Your name on high
Lord I love to sing Your praises
I’m so glad You’re in my life
I’m so glad You came to save us
You came from heaven to earth
To show the way
From the earth to the cross
My debt to pay
From the cross to the grave
From the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high
