Litany Giving Thanks for Every Sign of Love In The King

Based on Psalm 95

Today we give God all thanks and praise; we remember, celebrate and follow anew every sign of love in Christ our King; we fall down, and we cry holy; so, we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. O, come let us sing to the Lord; Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, to sing songs of honor and glory and praise!

People of God: In his hands are the depths of the sea; the heights of the hills are also his. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to remember, to trust every sign of love in Christ our King.

(silence for reflection)

All creatures of our God and King: Receive with faith and thanksgiving, the grace of the One who reigns: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Forever remember The King who forever remembers you; our great God, is a great King above all gods!

Loving God, today we remember you, our faithful King, forever remembers us, providing us with every good gift sent from heaven above. Guard and watch over us; restore your Kingdom. Today we give you thanks and praise for your Son, the King of all creation. Grant that we and all the people of the earth who are divided by sin, may be united in the One crowned with many crowns, our Perfect Sign of Love, who forever reigns in majesty. Send your Holy Spirit, and renew us in your light and grace. In Christ The King, we trust and we pray. Amen.

Old Testament Lesson

Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24

For thus says the Lord God: I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. As shepherds seek out their flocks when they are among their scattered sheep, so I will seek out my sheep. I will rescue them from all places to which they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited parts of the land. I will feed them with good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel shall be their pasture; there they shall lie down in good grazing land, and they shall feed on rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with justice. ... Therefore, thus says the Lord God to them: I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you pushed with flank and shoulder, and butted at all the weak animals with your horns until you scattered them far and wide, I will save my flock, and they shall no longer be ravaged; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken.

New Testament Lesson

Ephesians 1:15-23

I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this great power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Gospel

Matthew 25:31-46

Jesus said, “When the Son of Man comes in glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘You are the accursed, depart from me into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

Hebrews 11:12-2

God has blessed God’s people with faith from the beginning of time. Long ago witnesses boldly proclaimed The Perfect Sign of Love in Jesus’ grace was sufficient for the Hebrew Christians considering returning to Judaism. Let us share our faith using these same words.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. ...Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ...Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen.

Give Thanks for the Signs of Love In Our King

EZEKIEL 34:11-16,20-24; EPHESIANS 1:15-23; MATTHEW 25:31-46

What excites you so much, that it is on your heart all the time? Spouse, family, career, Jesus? Is your heart into action? Is your heart touched by those in need? Is your heart driven by all who are God's children and family? Is your heart into seeing Jesus in others?  Jesus today tells us, `just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it unto me.' As we celebrate Christ the King Sunday, let us give thanks the King of kings, the Lord of lords, has his heart focused on us. Jesus satisfies our every hunger and thirst, and he fills our every need. Does Jesus do all this out of obligation or duty? No! Jesus' heart is into comfort and mercy, power and hope, life and grace, forever fixed on you! In this season of thanksgiving, let us give thanks for and celebrate, Jesus, our King, God’s Perfect Sign of Love!

1. Is your heart into action? "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24; Ephesians 1:20; Matthew 25:40

A. What motivates you, touches you, drives you? Obligation? Duty? How do you act differently when your heart is in it?

B. The King’s heart is into action, signs of love are active in our midst!

2. Is your heart into helping those in need, those who are different from you? "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Matthew 25:40

A. What kind of hunger do you see?

B. What are people thirsting for?

C. What keeps us from reaching out to the strangers?

D. What leaves people naked or vulnerable?

E. Why are we hesitant to care for the sick?

F. What imprisons people? What keeps others away?

G. Every sign of God’s love, The King’s heart, graces one and all!

3. Is your heart into all of God's children, all of God's family? "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Ephesians1:15, 22; Matthew 25:40

A. God has made us family. Life continues to pull us together.

B. Every sign of God’s love, The King’s heart, makes us family.

4. Is your heart into seeing Jesus, above all else? "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Matthew 25:40

A. Do we know we can impact how others see Jesus? Would you like to do something for Jesus? God will help us do something incredible for Jesus by doing unto others, as Jesus does unto us!

B. Every sign of love, The King’s heart, moves in us and through us!

5. Thanks be to God for every sign of God’s love for The King’s heart is alive in Jesus, gracing one and all!
Ezekiel 34:12,24; Ephesians1:18-19; Matthew 25:31-32, 40

A. Trust God does not do anything out of obligation, because `He has to.' The King’s heart is motivated by grace and mercy.

B. The King’s heart is big enough for every need, every child.

Song of Praise & Grace Anew

Lord, Reign In Me

Brown

vs. 1
Over all the earth
You reign on high
Ev’ry mountain stream
Ev’ry sunset sky
But my one request
Lord my only aim
Is that You’d reign in me again

refrain:
Lord reign in me
Reign in Your pow’r
Over all my dreams
In my darkest hour
You are the Lord
Of all I am
So won’t you reign in me again

vs. 2
Over ev’ry thought
Over ev’ry word
May my life reflect
The beauty of my Lord
‘Cause You mean more to me
Than any earthly thing
So won’t You reign in me again

(refrain twice)

Won’t You reign in me again
Won’t You reign in me again

...as we pray to you, Jesus,
We give all thanks and praise to you, Christ The King, for every sign of love and grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

Crown Him (Majesty)

Tomlin/Maher

vs. 1
Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake my soul and sing
Of Him who died for me
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity

refrain:
Majesty
Lord of all
Let ev’ry throne
Before Him fall
The King of kings
O come adore
Our God who reigns
Forevermore

vs. 2
Crown Him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o’er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die

(refrain)

Forevermore

All Hail Redeemer Hail
For He has died for me
His praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity
All Hail Redeemer Hail
For He has died for me
His praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity

(refrain 2x)

Praise God who reigns
Forevermore
You’re the God who reigns
Forevermore

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Almighty God, you gave your Son both as a sacrifice for sin and a model of the godly life. Enable us to receive him always with thanksgiving, and to conform our lives to his, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace; as you give thanks and praise for every sign of love in the saving grace of Christ our King. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
