Hosanna, Hosanna,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna, Hosanna,
Hosanna in the highest!

Lord we lift up your name,
With hearts full of praise:
Be exalted, oh, Lord my God!
Hosanna in the highest!

The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven.”
— Matthew 21:9

Pilate said to them, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” All of them said, “Let him be crucified!”
— Matthew 27:22

'How did that happen?' 'What did I miss?'

Some things can change so quickly: People shouting 'Hosanna' next cry 'crucify;' You and I from wanting to be so faithful, from making God and neighbor first, to falling far short, from following Jesus only to stray, we get confused, and do not always follow through. One minute we can be seen praising God, and the next we might be heard even questioning or even doubting God's grace alone.

This week reminds us things can change quickly. Our loyalty can be Peter-like, yet grace alone changes us because God's love never changes.

Let us celebrate and trust God changes everything: in a Holy Week's time, in a 3-day period, on the cross, in a new dawn, in the twinkling of an eye, in every split-Holy Spirit-second, thanks to God's grace alone in Jesus Christ!

When you think you have changed so many times that there is no way God can count on you, count on God's grace alone to be loyal like, faithful like, faithful like nothing else, like no one else. Let God change you this week! Let grace alone change you again this week!

Let us pray: Jesus, I cry out to you today to change me. I do not always lift up your name, my heart is not always full of praise, I do not always make you and my neighbors first. Faithful and unchanging God, please hear my confession for I am sorry, and I truly want you to change my life and my heart in a split-Holy Spirit-second. In your grace alone, keep me faithful and loyal this week, so I do not miss how you change me and the world. I give You and Your grace my shouts of praise. In the name of the Son of David, I pray. Amen.
