In Christ alone my hope is found
Here is my light my strength my song
This cornerstone this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

Yet even now, says The Lord, return to me with all your heart.
— Joel 2:12
You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart.
— Mark 12:30
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
— Matthew 6:21

What does 'today' mean to you? Is today like any other day? Does today feel like Ash Wednesday? Will this Lenten journey be like any other, every other, Lenten journey? Could it be, Jesus, this Lenten season, Jesus today, will keep our hearts on Christ alone?

I do not personally believe in guilt as a motivator. The Lord knows guilt is far more of a burden than it is a healthy motivator. This is why Christ in grace alone came to us. This is how we are blessed to keep our hearts on Jesus, to stand, to be saved, in Christ alone!

In the grace of Christ alone, may we trust today is different; this Lenten season will be different. In the grace of Christ alone, trust The Spirit keeps our hearts on The One who keeps his heart on us, setting guilt aside, setting us aside, apart, for the Lord's heart is helping us and our hearts to return to The One who is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love!

Let us pray: In Christ alone, my hope is found. By your Holy Spirit, I will keep my heart on The One who forever keeps his heart on me. I will return to you, to stand in Christ alone. Today is already different. This Lenten journey is already different. Your heart of grace alone motivates me, saves me; you alone are my treasure, where my heart longs to be; for you are gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. I believe anew, Christ alone will keep my heart on the One who keeps his heart on me.  In the heart and name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
