Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
— Jeremiah 31:33

"Put your back into it." We hear this phrase all the time. What are you driven to put your back into? What are you willing to commit yourself to? To put a little extra effort into? How does that feel? How do you feel afterwards? Sore? Kind of proud?

"Put your heart into it." This requires something completely different.

Did you catch that? Completely? How do you feel when you do this, when you are driven to put your heart into something? Do you feel complete?

When you put your back into something, you put your hard work into it. This is good.

When you put your heart into something, you are driven to put yourself into it, you put the center of who you are into it. This is best!

As we continue our Lenten journey, trust Jesus puts his heart into us. Long ago, God wrote his law on our hearts. Long ago God was driven to put his heart into us, his complete heart, and he put his grace completely into it, into us. As God's people, let us put our hearts into the rest of this Lenten season, for The One who keeps his heart on us, our God will open us and the eyes of our heart completely, and we will see him, again and again!

Let us pray: Jesus, I confess I do not always put my whole heart completely into you, believing you, following you, and making you and my neighbors first. By your Spirit, keep your heart on me, give me strength when my back is not really into discipleship and your law. By your Spirit, open the eyes of my heart completely to see Your complete heart, and Your complete grace. In Jesus name, I pray with all my heart. Amen.
