Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime
“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Do you know any prophets? What do you think a prophet is? Does it help if I tell you, Lord of Life and The Kingdom are blessed with you and so many prophets
Prophets are messengers of God, who tell others what God is telling them, who tell others the truth about God, who tell others they themselves trust God first.
Are you feeling not as sure of yourself as a prophet, as others you know? Are you feeling less secure than Isaiah; are you not sure where to start? Trust God is keeping his heart on you, blessing you by his grace alone to do a new thing, to spring forth in you new life, perceive it! If you ever wonder what message is driving your heart, what word you are being asked to send or where to start, share this message loud and clear: 'In the cross of Christ I glory!'
Let us pray: Jesus, I rarely feel like a prophet, one of your messengers. By your Holy Spirit, keep your heart on me, bless me by your grace alone, reassure me, make me more secure, to know where to begin, to know exactly what message to send and to send it boldly, for in the cross of Christ I glory, and I will not stay silent. In Christ alone, I pray, loud and clear. Amen.
