Why a Christmas carol on The First Sunday In Advent?
Would you get ready for something you are uncertain about?
Long ago a Messiah was foretold, and Jesus came. Advent, is our season to live believing The One who did come will come again, we are certain, and we are to be ready!
What do you have to get ready for each day? What are you getting ready for each day in your spiritual life? Are you getting ready each day for what is certain, for Jesus to return, for joy to come to the world completely once again? Is your heart preparing Him room? Are you ready for heaven and nature to sing again like they did that first silent night? Are you ready for heaven and nature to sing again as One, as they do in Emmanuel, God with us, God's joy in the world?
God invites you and I to have Advent be more and mean more and deliver more this year than ever before. God with us, invites us to sing with heaven and nature, to see the Son of Man coming with power and glory. God blesses us to live each day to get ready and to trust what is certain, the greatest promise ever given, the greatest promise ever kept, the next greatest promise to one day be fulfilled to the fullest: Christ will come! Christ did come! Christ will come again! This is God's joy to the world!
Let us pray: Jesus, today I pray to you and I ask you to bless me, my loved ones, my church, your Church, for your whole world, to always be on the look out and to get ready for your promised return. By your grace, let my heart prepare You room. By your Holy Spirit, keep me faithful to celebrate what is certain: Heaven and nature sing in Jesus, God's promised Joy to the world, "is come," this Advent season, this fast-approaching Christmas, and on that day that will soon come, when you, The Son of Man, will come again. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
