Prepare the Royal Highway

Franzen & Herran

Prepare the royal highway
The King of kings is near!
Let ev'ry hill and valley
A level road appear!
Then greet the King of glory
Foretold in sacred story:
Hosanna, to the Lord
For he fulfills God's Word

John went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”
— Luke 3:3-6

How much prep time do you need to go on a trip?

Whether its vacation or business, whether it is a quick stop or an extended stay, how long does it take you to get ready?

What must you do to get ready, verses, what do you like to have ready?

As we journey through the second week of Advent, this is the week that invites us to get ready for the biggest trip of our lives, the biggest trip of our eternal lives.

What must we each do, verses, what would we each like to do?

How long will it take us to get ready, to prepare the way of The Lord?

Let us use this week to find hope and awe in this: Far as the curse is found, God has all things ready. No more let sin and sorrow grow, for God will make us ready in God's way, in mercy and grace.

With The Spirit's help, all paths will be made straight, heaven and nature will sing!

Let us pray: God who makes all things ready; make us ready we pray. As we announce our prayers, 'Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly,' help us trust you will make us ready for your arrival. Remove our sins, far as the curse is found; give us a devoted spirit to prepare the way for you to enter our hearts and homes and lives during Advent and Christmas this year. Prepare your way, by filling us with faith as we get ready for the most wonderful eternal trip of our lives, as we get ready each day, for heaven and nature to sing. Amen.
