Opening Song in The Spirit

Holy, Holy, Holy

Heber & Dykes

vs. 1
Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

vs. 2
Holy holy holy
All the saints adore thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before thee
Which wert and art and
Evermore shalt be

vs. 3
Holy holy holy
Though the darkness hide thee
Though the eye made blind by sin
Thy glory may not see
Only thou art holy
There is none beside thee
Perfect in pow’r
In love and purity

Today we celebrate, we trust anew, The One who is God in three persons, Blessed Trinity, and we take a fresh breath in God’s grace, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. O Lord, our Lord, your name is the most majestic name in all the earth. Your name brings praise on earth and in heaven. You have taught children and babies, each one of your children, to sing praises to you and your holy name!

People of God, today we celebrate the blessed Trinity, and that God keeps creating wonder and majesty. Let us come, taking a deep breath in God’s grace, trusting in the authority of God; the Creator is faithful, and this is truly our Father’s world!

Song of Trust & Grace Anew

This Is My Father’s World

Babcock & Sheppard

vs. 1
This is my Father’s world
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings
And round me rings
The music of the spheres
This is my Father’s world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees
Of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought

I look to the heavens, which you made with your fingers. I see the moon and the stars, which you alone have created, and I ask, “Why are people important to you?”

Friends of Jesus: We often ask, “Why do you, God, take care of human beings?” Yet, You made us a little lower than angels. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have not trusted the majesty of The Trinity.

(silence for reflection)

People of faith: Take a deep breath, trust anew God in Jesus Christ saves! Breathe anew, God in His only Son Jesus and in His grace, forgives you all your sins! Come, now, one and all, once again to Jesus, the One who forever first comes to you!

Song of True Grace Anew

Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus)

Rice

vs. 1
Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O raise your head for
Love is passin’ by

Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
And live

vs. 2
Now your burdens lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed
Away the stain

So sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
And live

Today we trust the power and faithfulness and breath of The Spirit. God alone has set us free. We have been made a little lower than angels, crowned with glory and honor. God has given us dominion over all the earth, to care for all creation.

Friends who trust the authority and majesty of God: Today you have heard again the wonders of God. Let us all come, and then go and sing; rejoicing and trusting in breath and light anew, for there is a sweet, sweet, Spirit in this and every place!

Song of Spirit & Hope Anew

Sweet, Sweet Spirit

Akers

There’s a sweet sweet Spirit in this place
And I know that it’s The Spirit of The Lord
There are sweet expressions on each face
And I know they feel the presence of The Lord

refrain:
Sweet Holy Spirit
Sweet heavenly Dove
Stay right here with us
Filling us with your love
And for these blessings
We lift our hearts in praise
Without a doubt we’ll know
That we have been revived
When we shall leave this place

Loving God, you dwell in majesty and mystery. You alone are all things to all people. Today renew our faith to confess and proclaim your Holy Trinity in all creation, forgiveness, strength and hope. By your Spirit, help us take a full deep breath as you open our hearts, to surrender to you, to trust in you, to worship you alone; then stir us up, to make you and our neighbors first, to go into the world to make known the grace of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

First Lesson

Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31

Does not wisdom call, and does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights, beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand; beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries out: “To you, O people, I call, and my cry is to all that live.”... “The Lord created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of long ago. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth – when he had not yet made earth and fields, or the world’s first bits of soil. When he established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him, like a master worker; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the human race.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

Second Lesson

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through The Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song of Reign and Glory

All Creatures of Our God and King

Saint Francis of Assisi

vs. 1
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice with us and sing
Alleluia
Alleluia
O burning sun with golden beam
And silver moon with softer gleam

(refrain)

refrain:
Oh praise him
Oh praise him
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

vs. 7
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship God in humbleness
Oh praise him
Alleluia
Oh praise the Father Praise the Son
And praise the Spirit Three in One

(refrain)

Gospel

John 16:12-15

Jesus taught his disciples, saying, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When The Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that The Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

We believe in one God, The Father, The Almighty,   maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,   eternally begotten of The Father, God from God,
Light from Light, true God from true God,   begotten, not made, of one Being with The Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of The Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of The Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in The Holy Spirit, The Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from The Father and The Son.
With The Father and The Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Take A Full Deep Breath

PROVERBS 8:1-4,22-31; ROMANS 5:1-5; JOHN 16:12-15

"2 + 2 = 4."  "The earth is round."  "Heat plus fuel plus air equals fire."  Much of what we learn is logical.  Once we understand how one thing leads to another, we can draw similar conclusions.  When a new concept is introduced, if it does not relate to another teaching, we may have to take a deep breath if things do not add up, as we look for proof.  Today, much of the Christian Church celebrates Holy Trinity Sunday.  The Trinity - one God, yet three persons; not just three roles or functions, but three persons in one God.  The Trinity is not easy to understand.  We can try to draw analogies, but analogies break down at some point.  One reason The Trinity is hard to understand is that it is so different from anything else.  What do we have to compare it to?  Nothing.  Then again, what do we have to compare to our God?  Nothing.  What can we compare to the love of our God, the faithfulness of our God, the strength of our God, the grace of our God?  Nothing.  Take a breath, a full deep breath, for faith is all we need to trust nothing compares to our God!

1. Let us take a full deep breath in discipleship, into life long learning.  Being a student of the greatest Teacher means there is always more to learn.
Proverbs 8:1; Romans 5:1,3-5; John 16:12-13

A. Nothing compares to being this kind of student, doing this kind of learning, studying a God who is Three In One.

B. Most of our academic career is spent learning how to learn.  Our spiritual journey is our invitation to learn even more.

C. Being a disciple is tough.  We use associations, logic, building on concepts; not faith without proof, not belief without reason.

D. Take a full deep breath in The Spirit.  The best students share respect and trust with teachers, and a passion for the subject.

2. Take a full deep breath in The Holy Trinity.  Nothing compares to a God who is One God in Three Persons.
Proverbs 8:22-31; John 16:13-15

A. We have nothing to compare to “three in one.”

B. Cannot talk about three Gods, cannot limit to role and function.

C. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are who they are!  This is truth!

3. Nothing compares to the love, to the faithfulness, to the strength, to the grace of our God!  Nothing!
Proverbs 8:30; Romans 5:1,5

A. Take a full deep breath in The Spirit!  Believe it or not, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit will continue!

B. Just because we may not understand or be able to compare The Holy Trinity to anything else, does not mean grace is not grace!

4. We try to understand ideas, yet some things we will never understand. `If God were small enough to be understood, God would not be big enough to be worshiped, God would not be big enough to be God!’  God is small enough to make his presence known; yet God is big enough to love us, to save us.  Let us take a full deep breath in God’s grace, for even when no comparison is possible, indeed, God is God!

Song of Spirit Anew

We Fall Down/Holy, Holy, Holy

Tomlin, Heber & Dykes

We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb

(repeat)

vs. 1
Holy holy holy
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee
Holy holy holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of
Mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
And we cry
Holy holy holy
Is the Lamb

...as we pray to you, gracious God, ...
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, breathe on us your saving grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

In order to better serve you in this troubling times, the way we receive Communion has changed slightly. You will be offered a self-contained Communion serving. Each capsule has two layers. The first layer is a thin, clear, cellophane layer which reveals the host. Under the second layer you will find the alcohol free juice. Volunteers will be happy to take you waste after you receive Communion.

The Words of Institution

In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

And the dead be raised
In the here and now

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you take each breath, each deep fresh breath, in the living grace of Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Song Going Anew In Glory & Grace

Lord Reign In Me

Brown

vs. 1
Over all the earth
You reign on high
Ev’ry mountain stream
Ev’ry sunset sky
But my one request
Lord my only aim
Is that You’d reign in me again

refrain:
Lord reign in me
Reign in Your pow’r
Over all my dreams
In my darkest hour
You are the Lord
Of all I am
So won’t you reign in me again

vs. 2
Over ev’ry thought
Over ev’ry word
May my life reflect
The beauty of my Lord
‘Cause You mean more to me
Than any earthly thing
So won’t You reign in me again

(refrain twice)

Won’t You reign in me again
Won’t You reign in me again
