Gathering In Spirit & Grace

Hear Our Praises

Morgan

vs. 1
May our homes be filled with dancing
May our streets be filled with joy
May injustice bow to Jesus
As the people turn to pray

refrain:
From the mountains
To the valleys
Hear our praises
Rise to You
From the heavens
To the nations
Hear our singing
Fill the air

vs. 2
May Your light shine in the darkness
As we walk before the cross
May Your glory fill the whole earth
As the water o’er seas

(refrain)

Litany Seeing & Believing God’s Glory & Grace

BASED ON PSALM 51

Today, we believe and see anew, from the mountains to the valleys, we fill the air, with praises, we trust anew, first things first, in God’s glory and grace, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. Have mercy on me, O God. According to your steadfast love and your abundant mercy, wash me thoroughly, change my ways and cleanse me from my sin.

People of God: Jesus knows our transgressions, and our sins are ever before him. Against Jesus alone have we sinned. He is justified in judging us. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to make first things first.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: Believe and see anew, first things first, all of God’s glory and grace in these words: Jesus saves, and Jesus forgives you all your sins. He has washed you and made you whiter than snow. Believe anew! See anew, the One who purifies your hearts once again!

Song of Grace Anew

Purify My Heart

Nelson

Purify my heart
Touch me with Your cleansing fire
Take me to the cross
Your holiness is my desire
Breathe Your life in me
Kindle a love
That flows from Your throne
Oh purify my heart
Purify my heart

Create in me a clean heart, O God, to believe and see anew, first things first. Put a new and right spirit within me. Do not cast me out of your presence, do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.

Friends in Christ: We have seen God’s glory and grace! In repentance, God has made first things first; our lives, our spirits are turned around. Believe and see; The One who graces us first, purifies our hearts, in glory and grace!

Song of Grace Anew

Purify My Heart

Nelson

Purify my heart
Touch me with Your cleansing fire
Take me to the cross
Your holiness is my desire
Breathe Your life in me
Kindle a love
That flows from Your throne
Oh purify my heart
Purify my heart

Loving God, you bless us with first things first, making yourself known through your gifts of glory and grace. Purify our hearts again today, reveal to us what matters most, and renew our faith, trusting with you all things are possible. By your Spirit, we believe and see anew, all good gifts are sent from heaven above, placed into our care. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

The Old Testament

AMOS 5:6–7, 10–15

Seek the Lord and live, or he will break out against the house of Joseph like fire, and it will devour Bethel, with no one to quench it. Ah, you that turn justice to wormwood, and bring righteousness to the ground! ... They hate the one who reproves in the gate, and they abhor the one who speaks the truth. Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take from them levies of grain, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not live in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine. For I know how many are your transgressions, and how great are your sins – you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and push aside the needy in the gate. Therefore the prudent will keep silent in such a time; for it is an evil time. Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, just as you have said. Hate evil and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

(New Revised Standard Version)

The New Testament

HEBREWS 3:13–18

Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be boastful and false to the truth. Such wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish. For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.

Song Anew in Glory & Grace

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Dorsey

vs. 1
Precious Lord take my hand
Lead me on let me stand
I am tired I am weak
I am worn
Through the storm through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 2
When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life
Is almost gone
Hear my cry hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 3
When the darkness appears
And the night draws near
And the day
Is past and gone
At the river I stand guide
My feet hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Gospel

MARK 10:17–31

As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.’” He said to Jesus, “Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth.” Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions. Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” And the disciples were perplexed at these words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” They were greatly astounded and said to one another. “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.” Peter began to say to him, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.” Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields, for my sake and for the sake of the good news, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age – houses, brothers, and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions – and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

(New Revised Standard Version)

Stating Our Faith in God

BASED ON REVELATION 21:5–7

As God’s children, we trust God the good steward and God’s grace first love us and then fill us with countless blessings. In thanks to God’s faithfulness, we believe and we see anew God’s glory and grace, and so, we, now boldly proclaim our faith.

All: God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.

First Things First; In Glory & Grace!

AMOS 5:6-7, 10-15; HEBREWS 4:12-16; MARK 10:17-31

“Failure is not an option!” “Winners never quit, and quitters never win!”  “Give 110%!” Every day such clichés try to draw us in. Employers, advertisers, children, parents, lovers, all send messages they want taken seriously. We can feel like we are not being heard. We try emphatically to make our point. Jesus spoke simply, he said it like it is, like it has been, like it always will be. Jesus is direct, he draws the line without reservation. When it comes to our spiritual walk, it cannot be out of comfort or convenience; it cannot be done with a spirit of self-righteousness. God is to be first! As we make God and neighbors first, we believe and see God’s glory and grace, we see God in Jesus has made us first. As we continue to explore the net worth of our core values, we trust anew, our true net worth is in God’s grace alone! When God is first, we may feel last in this world. Trust then, always, what needs no further explanation, only a little more faith, believing first things first: God makes you first, first; you are God’s everything; and God is forever emphatic about you!

1. `Let's get things straight,' "no one is good but God alone."
Mark 10:18

A. Try as we might only God is good!

B. God is good in Jesus - who saves; in the Father - who creates and recreates; in the Spirit - who comforts and strengthens and directs; in us and through us - thanks to the gift of faith.

2.       `The most important point,’ `Jesus looked at him, loved him.’
Mark 10:21

A. Jesus loves us, just as we are.  We are his everything!

B. `He knows our transgressions, how great our sins are, how self-righteous we are, how self-serving we can be, ...’
Amos 5:12

C. `We can approach him with boldness to receive his love, mercy, and grace.'  The rich man knew who to talk to, so do we!  So let us pray with boldness!
Hebrews 4:16; Mark 10:17-20

3. `To make it clear, crystal clear,' "sell what you own ... you will have treasure in heaven, then come, follow me."
Hebrews 4:12; Mark 10:21b

A. If our riches are where we ground our trust and security, we will not see the glory of God, and it is time for a change.

B. Giving is not about giving it all for the sake of giving it all.  We are to give, to serve, with Jesus being first!

i. No matter the gift given, Christ is to be at the center.

ii. An empty heart will equal an empty gift.

iii. When our heart, soul, and faith are central - giving is crystal clear, the numbers go away, God is first!

iv. Our true net worth is in God’s grace alone!

4. `The number one thing to remember is,' `how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God, when God is not first!'
Mark 10:10:23-25

A. `It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle, than for a rich person to enter,' etc.

B. We cannot do it on our own!  We cannot buy our way in, give our way in, perfect our way in.  We can only surrender our will, our energy, our all, our faith, and our trust to Him.

C. We cannot out give our God.  We cannot even out sin His love.

5. `If you leave today remembering only one thing ...,'  For us to make God and neighbor first, to believe, to see on our own the glory of God is impossible; "for God all things are possible."
Mark 10:26-27,31

A. Before `with God all things are possible' can be believed; we must first trust and praise, "for God all things are possible."

B. God is who saves, loves.  If up to us to be good, to surrender, to make God first - impossible.  With God, all things are possible!

C. God did what everyone thought was the last thing a God would do, he sent His Son, Jesus, to reveal and to fulfill God’s glory and grace, to make first things first, to make you first!

Song of Glory & Grace

Cry of My Heart

Butler

refrain:
It is the cry of my heart
To follow You
It is the cry of my heart
To be close to You
It is the cry of my heart
To follow
All of the days of my life

vs. 1
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
So I can walk in Your truth
Teach me Your holy ways O Lord
And make me wholly devoted to You

(refrain)

vs. 2
Open my eyes so I can see
The wonderful things that You do
Open my heart up more and more
And make me wholly devoted to You

(refrain twice)

All of the days of my life
All of the days of my life

...as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Bless us, to believe and see anew, your glory and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Song During Holy Communion

Carry The Light

Paris

In this world of darkness
We are given light
Hope for all the dying
How will they know
How will they know
That Jesus loves them
And He died to save them

Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and tell the children
They are precious in His sight
Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and preach the gospel
‘Til there is no more night
In the name of Jesus Christ
Carry the Light

Count them by the millions
Blinded slaves to sin
Inside they are dying
How will they know
How will they know
That Jesus loves them
And His heart is breaking

Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and tell the children
They are precious in His sight
Carry the Light
Carry the Light
Go and preach the gospel
‘Til there is no more night
In the name of Jesus Christ
Carry the Light
The Light
Carry the Light

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you believe and see, God’s glory and grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
