Ev'ry promise we can make,
Ev'ry prayer and step of faith,
Ev'ry diff'rence we will make
Is only by His grace.
Ev'ry mountain we will climb,
Ev'ry ray of hope we shine,
Ev'ry blessing left behind
Is only by His grace.

Grace alone which God supplies,
Strength unknown He will provide.
Christ in us, our Cornerstone,
We will go forth in grace alone.

Return to the Lord, your God, for he gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.
— Joel 2:13

What does 'today' mean to you? Is today like any other day? Will this Lenten journey be like any other, every other, Lenten journey?

I do not personally believe in guilt as a motivator. The Lord knows guilt is far more of a burden than it is a healthy motivator. This is why Christ in grace alone came to us. This is how we are blessed to stand, to be alive, to be saved, to be anew, to go forth, in grace alone!

In grace alone, may we trust today is different, this Lenten season will be different. In grace alone, trust guilt is set aside, grace sets us aside, apart, we are holy, for the Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love!

Let us pray:  Today I give you thanks, O God, for all you supply, for strength unknown, for hope to go forth in your grace alone. By your Holy Spirit, I will return to you. Today is already different. This Lenten journey is already different. Your grace makes me different. Your grace alone motivates me. Your grace alone saves me. Faithful Lord, you are so gracious and merciful, so slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. I am saved, and I am for all eternity, alive and anew in grace alone. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
