“You shall not make for yourself an idol ...
You shall not bow down to them or worship them ...”
Are there things that creep their way into your life? Have you ever thought, 'just a little' will not matter? Have you ever tried to make room for it all, only to discover, certain things soon take over?
Sometimes, in order to have enough room for one thing, you have to get rid of something else.
God's overflowing heart of grace blesses us with forgiveness and repentance, to worship Christ above all else, to make God and our neighbors first. In repentance, The Holy Spirit breaks into our spirits, to turn us around, to get rid of all idols and everything else, so other things do not creep into our spiritual life, so not even 'just a little' becomes a factor, so every tongue will confess and every knee will bow.
There is room only for God! This is our greatest treasure - to choose The One who first chose us! Come, now is the time, now is the time to worship! Come, now is the time to give your heart, to The One who forever keeps his heart on you!
Let us pray: Jesus, by your overflowing grace, turn me around, to worship you alone, to keep my heart on you alone. I confess to you, there are things I try to leave room for, things which easily start to take over first place in my life, things which keep me from worshiping you, things which keep me from giving you my heart. Jesus, free my life and my spirit from all that gets in the way of making you first; keep your heart on me. In your name and by your grace, I worship you alone. Amen.
