Theme for the Day: “Repeat The Sounding Joy!”
Service Feature: Children’s Christmas Program

Readings: Zephaniah 3:14-20; Philippians 4:4-7; Luke 3:7-18

The Shepherd’s Candle calls us to joyful witness, as the shepherds once did when they encountered the Christ child. Today, the Children’s Christmas Program reminds us of the boundless excitement and wonder of proclaiming God’s grace to the world.

In a world filled with countless voices and sources of news, who do you trust? Who do you follow for the good news of your spiritual journey? As John testified to the Light, and as the shepherds joyfully spread the word, so we too are called to “repeat the sounding joy!”

Sunday, December 22, 2024 – The Fourth Sunday in Advent – The Star/Angel Candle

Theme for the Day: “He Rules The World!”

Readings: Micah 5:2-5a; Hebrews 10:5-10; Luke 1:39-45 (46-55)

As we approach Christmas Eve, the day is drawing near, and there may be a sense that not everything is finished or in place. The hustle and bustle of Advent may have left us with a gap between our hopes and what we’ve been able to accomplish. But there is a deeper truth in the promise of Advent: God’s grace fills the gap. Just as the angels brought hope and the star pointed the wise men to the Christ child, God’s grace breaks forth in unexpected ways.

Today, as we light the Star/Angel Candle, we reflect on the profound truth that God has sent Jesus, who rules the world with truth, grace, joy, hope, love, and light. In this season, let us trust that God’s grace is more than enough to close the gap between our expectations and reality. We are reminded that, like Mary, we too are sent to bear Christ into the world.

Special Moments:

  • We will reflect on the journey of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men, all pointed toward God’s grace breaking into our world.

  • We celebrate the truth that God’s love fills all the gaps in our lives, with the assurance that Christ rules the world, bringing light to our darkness.

In Person: Gather with us at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lakeville, MN, as we prepare for the birth of our Savior.
Online: Join us via Lord of Life LIVE for this meaningful Advent service.

Join us in preparing our hearts to welcome Christ, who rules the world with love, joy, and grace!

December 24, 2024 – Christmas Eve

Theme for the Night: “Wonders Of His Love!”

Readings: Luke 2:1-20

On this holy night, as we gather together, we ask ourselves: Why are you here tonight? What are you looking for? What are you hoping for this Christmas? And perhaps most importantly, Would you even know it if you found it?

Like the shepherds who were keeping watch over their flocks, we too are looking for something. They were filled with wonder and awe when they found the child in the manger, the Savior of the world. But the true wonder of that night, and of this season, is God’s deep love for us.

“Wonders Of His Love!”: This night is for children, yes. But not just for the little ones in age. This night is for the child of God in each of us. God delights in watching His children, of all ages, fill with anticipation, joy, and wonder. Even when we feel afraid, uncertain, or overwhelmed by the demands of life, God invites us to come with haste and trust that His love for us is more than we ever imagined.

The birth of Jesus is the ultimate gift, the truest wonder of His love. As we listen to the story of the first Christmas, may our hearts be filled with joy, gratitude, and wonder, knowing that God loves us with a love beyond measure.

Special Moments:

  • As we hear the familiar story of Jesus' birth, we are reminded that God’s love, born that night in a humble manger, is the love that fills us all.

  • Join us in lighting candles, singing familiar carols, and sharing the joy of Christ's birth with one another.

In Person: Join us at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lakeville, MN, for our Christmas Eve service, filled with music, candlelight, and reflection on God’s love.
Online: Experience the service from the comfort of your home via Lord of Life LIVE.

As we celebrate this sacred night, may we all feel the wonder of God’s love made present in the birth of Jesus Christ!

December 29, 2024 – The First Sunday After Christmas

Theme: “Joy To The World!”

Readings: 1 Samuel 2:18-20, 26; Colossians 3:12-17; Luke 2:41-52

As we gather this Sunday after Christmas, we ask, "How was your Christmas?" We reflect on how the holiday unfolded for each of us—our hosting, our travels, the time spent with family and friends, the food, and the moments of relaxation and joy. But perhaps more than anything, we're reflecting on the gift giving—did we get what we were hoping for, what we were searching for?

This year, as we gather in worship, let us ask ourselves: Are we still searching for a little more Christmas? As we enter a new year, are we still seeking more of what Jesus reveals to us, more of the peace, joy, and transformation He brings?

The twelve days of Christmas remind us that there’s still time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the greatest gift ever given to the world.

In our scripture readings, we hear of young Jesus growing in wisdom and grace, and we are reminded that this journey of discovery and growth in Christ is ongoing. We too, like the family of Jesus, are called to grow in our faith and to celebrate the joy that He brings into the world and into our lives.

As we enter the new year, may you be blessed to find all that Jesus is revealing anew—transforming us, making us new, and filling us with His greatest joy.

Special Moments:

  • Communion Blessing on Households: During this service, we will share a special communion blessing over households as we enter a new year, asking God to bless our homes with His presence and peace.

  • Music and Joy: Join us as we sing, "Joy to the World!" and rejoice in the joy of the Christmas season that continues to shine in the new year.

In Person: Join us at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lakeville, MN, for this joyful and celebratory service.
Online: Watch the service online through Lord of Life LIVE.

Join us on Sunday, October 20, 2024, for The Twenty-Second Sunday After Pentecost as we explore the theme "What Kind Of Glory And Grace Do You Want?" This week’s scripture readings include Isaiah 53:4-12, Hebrews 5:1-10, and Mark 10:35-45.

In the Gospel of Mark, we encounter the disciples' bold request: "When you come into your glory, Jesus, will you grant one of us to sit at your right and one at your left?" Jesus responds with a reminder that we may not fully understand what we are asking. Yet, even when we don’t comprehend the scope of our questions, we are encouraged to keep asking, seeking, and trusting in the One who is our Everything.

This Sunday, let us reflect on what kind of glory and grace we desire, knowing that God’s answers are far greater than anything we could imagine. We are invited to believe anew in the glory and grace of The One who is forever faithful.

Join us on Sunday, October 13, 2024, for The Twenty-First Sunday After Pentecost as we focus on the theme "First Things First, In Glory And Grace!" This Sunday’s scripture readings include Amos 5:6-7, 10-15, Hebrews 4:12-16, and Mark 10:17-31.

In this powerful passage from Mark, Jesus draws a clear line: "No one is good but God alone; sell what you own, and you will have treasure in heaven; how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God." Jesus looks at the man with love and speaks the truth about the difficulty of prioritizing God’s Kingdom above all else. Yet, with God, all things are possible.

Sunday, September 22 – The Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost – “He Is … The Greatest!”

Join us on Sunday, September 22, 2024, for the Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost as we continue our Early Fall Pentecost Worship Theme: “Celebrating All God Is, In The Grace Of Jesus Christ.” This Sunday, we explore the theme “He Is … The Greatest!” with readings from Jeremiah 11:18-20; Isaiah 50:4-9a; James 3:13-18 (-4:3, 7-8a); Mark 9:30-37.

In these passages, Jesus makes known that the greatest follower,’ the greatest believer,’ are measured by God quite differently than by us and society. God is Who God is … The Greatest Truth, Wisdom, Servant, Change, Grace! We have The Greatest, and The Greatest has us!

This Sunday's service emphasizes recognizing the true measure of greatness in the eyes of God and embracing the greatness of God's truth, wisdom, and grace.

All are welcome to join us as we delve into the profound understanding of greatness in God's kingdom and celebrate His unwavering grace.

We look forward to worshiping with you!

Join us on Sunday, September 15, 2024, for the Seventeenth Sunday After Pentecost as we continue our Early Fall Pentecost Worship Theme: “Celebrating All God Is, In The Grace Of Jesus Christ.” This Sunday, we reflect on the theme “He Is Who He Is!” with readings from Isaiah 50:4-9a; James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38.

In these passages, we hear Jesus ask, "Who do people say that I am? Who do you say that I am? What hat do you think I am wearing?" Peter’s confession that Jesus is The Messiah quickly turns to Peter being human. We are reminded to trust anew, knowing that no one tells Jesus what hat to wear. He is forever who He is, The Messiah.

This Sunday's service emphasizes recognizing and embracing Jesus as The Messiah, the one who wears no other hat but that of our Savior and Lord.

All are welcome to join us as we delve into the true identity of Jesus and celebrate His unwavering grace.
